Elton John and partner David Furnish may have fame, fortune and a loving family, but the 'Rocket Man' singer won't be satisfied until gay couples are granted the same rights as their heterosexual counterparts.
Last night at billionaire Ron Burkle's Los Angeles fundraiser to overturn Proposition 8, the new father had some choice words for those who oppose gay marriage, RadarOnline.com reports.
"I think I have it all," said the singer, who welcomed son Zachary via surrogate last month. "I have a wonderful career, a wonderful life. I have my health, I have a partner of 17 years, and now I have a son. I don't have everything because I don't have the respect of people like the church or like politicians who tell me that I'm not worthy, that I'm lesser because I'm gay, well f**k you!"
John performed a 90-minute set of both new material and his classic hits for the 750-person crowd, which included 'Glee' star Jane Lynch and her partner, Dr. Lara Embry.
During the event, which raised more than $3 million for the restoration of marriage equality, John continued to voice his frustration over the disparity between his rights and those of other parents.
"Here I am sitting with a wedding ring and I'm with my partner and we have a son, but we couldn't get married," he said.
Despite his joy over the birth of Zachary, John's road to fatherhood hasn't been without obstacles. Just last year, John and Furnish were turned down after trying to adopt an HIV-positive boy from the Ukraine, where civil marriages are not legally recognized.
John does, however, have hope for the future. "We have a right to be recognized as a human being. We have to fight the good fight," he said. "And we will win."
It’s probably been his opinion all along. He seems to crave acceptance. He won’t get any now.
Every justification Elton demanded for his sick lifestyle could be also used for pedophilia, bestiality, necrophilia — they are all about love, too. Civilization must be based on virtue, not “love.”

Such a classy person /sarc
How is this an endorsement of homosexuality? I was left wondering what on earth the participants had intended. Imho, there was an attempt to elicit sympathy for these people, which was successful, at least for me, but if it was also intended to elicit support for their choices it was a dismal failure, at least with me. Was love supposed to conquer all? I haven't a clue.
What are they going to do, bribe the judges?

It is likely to be used for polygamy sooner than any of those conditions which you have just mentioned. There have already been such secular persons as Joe Shapiro (Senior Law Professor at George Washington University) who have argued for, at a minimum to decriminalize polygamy, and give roughly all the same arguments for polygamy as for same-sex marriage (consent, privacy, does no harm on its own, etc.). In addition, if one looks at polygamy, there is probably no worse dirt that some secular humanist would bring up than to argue that Judaism and Christianity are hypocritical for having a polygamist past, while being condemning of it nowadays. Personally, it’s not worth doing in a different world that we live in, where women own their own property and don’t need to marry into royalty, which are two main reasons for the practice in Biblical times. The slippery slope will come faster than you think, and it will likely come on polygamy as among the first cases to challenge traditional values.
these people show they have no class, and certainly no idea what is normal and natural.
the man is mentally sick in the first place as is all homosexuals but then he has shown how unclassy he is too.
I;ve given up on many so called conservative talk show hosts and TV hosts like Hannity.
They have no balls to inform their listeners or viewers about the homosexual agenda but are happy enough to take conservative money.
Conservatism is not half way, it is social and fiscal, if one is fiscal but not social then they’re not conservatives they’re more like libertarians or liberals on social issues
Ooops! I forgot to mention polygamy. :-)
He has his health?
It wasn’t more than a few months ago that John said he was opposed to gay marriage and civil unions were good enough.

I dont want to be married, John told USA TODAYs Donna Freydkin at a New York fundraiser last night. Im very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership, said John. The word marriage, I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships.
Vile. Pray for the poor child that was sold to these two individuals.
Good point — no how many laws, they are still not “normal”
