Just wondering if anyone else out there is spending the evening alone. Not necessarily a bad thing. I'm sipping a cappuccino and taking in "A Christmas Story" in the old man cave. I'll be with family tomorrow, but as of tonight, it's my faithful Boxer and me. And Ralphie.
Not alone. Hubby and 2 dogs. Celebrated Christmas today as father in law is quickly nearing the end of an incredible life. He is a farmer who has worked since he was 5 when his father first put him on a tractor to plow a field, the oldest of 14 children. He is the father of my beloved husband and I am heartbroken. The entire family is strong and proud with titanium spines while I cry at beautiful sunsets, onstar commercials and hearing our national anthem.
Hold your loved ones close and if you can’t, dream of when you can. Be thankful for all blessings God has bestowed upon us.
Sleep peacefully and Merry Christmas.
I have JuJu with me. She’s a little blonde with one blue eye and one brown eye. Her nose is properly cold.
;-)
Ida Sessions: Are you alone, Mr Gittes? Jake Gittes: Aren't we all?!
Interesting that you mentioned Fort Lewis. I have been singularly blessed by never spending a single Christmas away from family, even through a decade in the Navy and another decade in Japan. Except for one. Christmas, 1976, spent at a formal dinner in Raffle’s Hotel in Singapore with some rather interesting shipmates. The Maitre d’, a severe looking guy in a tux, bought us a drink. Ex-Royal Navy. Never forgot it.
Fred, I’ve been curious: Just how big IS your head?
I've been living that same routine for 15 years. Sucks when it's not my turn on Christmas Eve. Best of luck to you and Happy Christmas.
and I will wish you a Merry Christmas!!
Y’ get used to it.
We are all here with you!
About your wife being in the troubling condition that my mom had too. I often think I am going to get it also. Sometimes life just isn’t wonderful but you have taken steps to make her live comfortably. That is all you can do. God loves you for still visiting.
Merry Christmas dear one. May God Bless you.
When you’re alone, abandoned, tossed aside, betrayed, it’s hard to believe in your Christmases, your Thanksgivings, your You Never Walk Alones, your gods and saints, when it was your fellow fervent believers who put you out to pasture, and are now dressing up to go to the midnight mass, and to Holy Communion bright early morning Christmas Day. But then, you have to have lived it, to have been there yourself...
Merry Christmas!
Hmmm....Perhaps it is an anatomical feature that has nothing to do with the diameter of my cranium... ;-))
Film at 11...
LOL
I made eggnog once.
Don’t ever do it. It’s a mess. If you put brandy in it, it gets weird in the fridge as leftovers.
That was a horrid period of furious cooking that I hope never to repeat.
There is One who never betrays you. For the rest, forgiveness. Or you go nuts. Trust me.
...Merry Christmas to all
I have everything ready for dinner for anywhere from 22 to 27 people tomorrow and I am going for a shot of bourbon, my Lab likes White Zin....Some of the grand kids bring their girl or boyfriend over and sometimes I get my kids in-laws...never know until they show up, thats why a buffet is perfect...I'm tirrred.
Do you really drink Ovaline? :O)
Same here 97...My JR is on watch outside (sounds like a coyote when he howls at the train whistle), the Tulsa/Hawaii game is at halftime, FRiends on the netbook via broadband, Black Velvet is good for relaxing and both sisters’ screaming grand kids are 3,000 miles away to the SE while mine are 3,000 miles to the NW...
God Bless you all!!

I've had many a Christmas when the house was full and I felt alone.
So try to keep in mind what the reason for Christmas is all about, and if you need to talk, there's a "house full" of Freepers here for you!
Prayers up.
The age of miracles is not over......
