Sad news. We also lost our 17 year old dog today. Peter died peacefully in his own bed this morning.

From Mark’s facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=473019530945&_fb_noscript=1

There is less joy in the world today. It’s with great sadness I tell you that Griffen Levin passed away at 1:30 PM today. He stopped eating and drinking the past two days and we could not let him starve. We are mourning now but I wanted to let you all know as you’ve been so kind. If you want to learn more about Griffen, turn to the last chapter of Rescuing Sprite. He was a wonderful little boy, a buddy, a bundle of life and joy. Yet, he was neglected much of his life, until we adopted him almost 4 years ago (February 2007). But in the end, his body broke down. I pray to God he is at peace. We will miss him terribly. Your family loves and adores you, Griffey. :(((

God bless you all. Mark

So sorry to hear about Griff.

Tom Marr is a good host. He used to host the Saturday Night Shootout in Philly......and I still miss him.

Anyone who has or has ever owned a dog hurts with him.

I'm sorry for Mark's loss.

But three minutes at the start of the show would have been enough for Marr to convey the sense of loss, and then move on.

He didn't. I did.

R.I.P. Griffin.

Levin was talking about losing “someone” in his family over the Holidays last week, and he could hardly keep it together.

you're not human if you have a dry eye after hearing Jimmy Stewart read this poem about his faithful friend

For Griffin

It just breaks my heart. We rescue elder dogs. They come ready made, but they also come older, and with issues. This past March, we had to give one up. It’s never easy. We’re on our 3rd elder rescue. We love these guys. The need a home more so than puppies.

That’s the trade off. I love the older dogs. We’re watching our 11 year old, he’s been part of our family for 3 years now. I can’t stress how joyful rescuesing elders has been. Elders need a home much more that puppies. God bless Griffen and the Levin family. Mark gave him four fabulous years! That’s more than Griffen ever expected. Griffen had the best life he ever could have imagined.

Mark, he knew when he had to go, and he timed it perfectly. He knew your schedule, and he took care of YOU.

Remember him for his joy.

This past year I buried cats who had been with me 14 and 17 years, all of their lives. They were faithful companions, and when it was time for me to ease their endings, those days were some of the most painful I have ever lived. Our pets ask so little of us, and give so much.

Prayers to Mark and his family.
