What if Sarah doesn't run ? And why wouldnt she ?

Posted on 12/17/2010 9:36:35 PM PST by se_ohio_young_conservative

I have not posted a vanity for awhile now and I post this in good faith. I was thinking earlier about what the politcal lands would look like with Sarah Palin not in the next Presidential race.

I don't think it would be good.

I think she has a duty to run unless family reasons dictate otherwise. I hope and pray that she is not buying the media narritive that she is unelectable. I know she is a very smart person. But I hope she has more confidence than to give any thought to the idea that she might not be able to win. Any candidate might not be able to win. But you don't know until you try.

Other than family and personal reason. What are political reasons she shouldn't run in your opinion ?

I think the reason she should is short and simple. This country needs her and we are running out of time.

If she doesn,t run. I don't think I could stomach politics and I doubt I ever vote again. At one time I dreamed of serving in congress as a kid. But if we are a country where the media can destroy my politcal career and hurt my family. Why in the hell would I do it.

I am saying that Sarah Palin represents all of us underdogs and regular people. It would be demoralizing to the tea party and conservatives if 1. she doesnt run.. or 2. she lets the media define her image.

the stakes are too high for politics as usual.. I honestly feel like these are life or death moments for our country.

That’s why the interaction with Piper was so telling. It was a cramped situation in a motor home, with the kids in hallowe’en costumes, Todd, decorations and then Greta with her camera crew. Palin reacted to Piper in a way that was obviously natural when under stress.

For me, this is the kicker: for me, Gov. Palin was the One and Only good thing about the 2008 election cycle. Her appearance was fantastic, made even more so because who imagined that McCain would make such a good choice? With McCain’s selection of Palin, I actually had a reason to vote for yet another establishment RINO. I held my nose and voted for McCain, but in doing so, I knew that the better McCain did, the more credit would go to Gov. Palin.

I *want* to like Gov. Palin — and, no, I’m not a “concerned troll.” I don’t have the patience to sign up in 2001, after lurking for over a year, only to wait until nearly 10 years later to attempt to sabotage the political career of someone who wasn’t even on the radar at that time. I’m not some ignorant dupe. I’m most assuredly not a Romney supporter. As of right now, I don’t support any candidate — which works rather well since I’m not aware that anyone has officially thrown their hat into the ring.

You’ll also notice that I refer to her as Gov. Palin, using only her last name in places where it would logically refer back to the usage of her name with the title. Using such a title is a term of respect and honor. Were I someone out to get her, I’d be much more likely to use her first name, thus demeaning her accomplishment, or simply using only her last name and ignoring her earned title.

Anyone who shouts, “look at me, I’M SMART!” - may well not be as smart as they think they are. Especially when they tear another down to do it. Hint: Tina Fey is NOT Governor Palin, SNL is garbage.

An interesting discussion by all.

How about this - "Never fall in love with a politician, they'll break your heart every time".

I’M smarter than Sarah Palin.

*I* can swim faster than Michael Phelps.

Aside: Why do you suppose those who meet Mrs Palin, and have nothing to gain or lose by her political successes, always come away mentioning how intelligent she is?

I see using someones first name or even a nick name as down to earth and friendly. If it is used in a favorible way.

Dwight Eisenhower was called IKE.

Winstons Julia: “She blew the interview with Couric. ...
She’s *not* smart. That’s why there is a team there right now trying to educate her.
... With regards to energy policy...she’s pretty good
...obviously she has read Gingrich’s books.
The problem is that she is, in my opinion, already too damaged....
There’s just not a presidential thing happening, IMO.
I believe that Palin is NO Reagan.
... One of the things that bothers me is that she
has made herself into a “reality show” star, now.
"

Why don't you buy a clue.
Your posts show only that you are very jealous and wrong.
Gov. Palin is very smart. She is a contender. You are not.
Gov. Palin is not Ronald Reagan, but politically she may be
smarter and stronger than he ever was.
She did not "ma(k)e herself" into anything...
because it is the PEOPLE who have chosen.
What comes through the crucible, again has become stronger than
what went in.

You should probably learn to spell or at least cut and paste proper English before you call me Godless and say you are praying for me.

Wouldn't the correct inflection be Winston's Julia?

“I think it would sad if someone with her God given gifts and abilities bets against her own politcal future and waves the white flag.”

I think Sarah is our God given gift and if we keep PRAYING she will run and she will win.

I don't see anyone who voted for him who has decided it was a bad call casting a vote for the candidate he defeated last time...too much to ask.

REALLY?!? I've gotten personal apologies from liberal friends that were so sincere I was compelled to forgive them outright. I don't think they'd consider a democrat in the next election. They've become fiscal conservatives.

So have I. I think human nature is such that rubbing salt in the wound isn't the answer and Sarah Palin is that. Not only did they goof with a vote for that liberal, that mistake kept her out...it's a double whammy I think only a precious few will be able to face and correct.

Never mind the fact the soooo many came out of the woodwork simply to vote for his race....nothing has changed but that group will come out again to help him win agiast her in much greater numbers than any other conservative we offer up...jmo.

“If Sarah can’t win. that means no conservative can win.”

“I don’t think that’s true.”

Fine.

Which “other conservatives” can win?

I don’t mean just run, but WIN.

Names, please.

Any more childhood crushes you wanna talk about? Oh, were you talking about someone specific? Like, with a title and a last name?

Hey Larry, ...or do I need to address you as Larry Luccido?

...or perhaps Mr. Lucido.

Anyway, do you seriously have a problem with folks such as that poster calling Sarah Palin, "Sarah".

I call sometimes call her "Sarah". I don't have a "crush" on her. I also call Mitt Romney "Mitt", I call Newt Gingrich "Newt", and I call Hillary Clinton "Hillary", and I don't like any of those folks.

Get my point, Larry?

re: Ike

Yep, IKE was a nickname used by Eisenhower’s campaign. It made for a nice, catchy phrase. As far as I know, the candidate, or his campaign on his behalf, initiated the nickname. I am not aware of Gov. Palin doing the same.

I am, undoubtedly, old fashioned in this respect. For me, being on a first name basis is a privilege to be granted to others as in, “Please, call me Tom.” Famous people like Rush Limbaugh have made this request public, and therefore implied it as a privilege granted to all. (It’s also a good marketing move on Rush’s part, but that’s no surprise.) Calling a person with an earned title by their first name, without being granted the privilege, has traditionally been a means of implying insult, or a lack of respect.

Being on a first name basis (to me) means something. It implies a familiarity, an appropriately close relationship. Frankly, any time I see Gov. Palin referred to with her first name by someone who doesn’t claim such a relationship, I’m a bit suspicious of the person’s motives. If the person has so little respect for Gov. Palin or her accomplishments, they lose credibility.

1. I thank God that He is in control of all things.

2. I am not a dude

3. I will continue to state the truth. There are people on this forum for one reason only and it is not to help conservatives.

4. If you are not one of those who have fallen into that trap, praise God. But not all have the discernment to see it.

5. My intent is not to insult. It is to make people aware that just because some are on this site, does not mean they are all conservatives with conservative best interests in mind. Some are republicans. Some are far worse. As someone who has been here a long time, I will not stop reminding people of the facts and the earljam situation — a retread, previously banned, paid political operative, posting as a fellow conservative should serve as a reminder.

6. As a brother and sister in Christ, and as homeschoolers, we should be able to disagree amicably, not take offense.
