Latest research deflates the idea that the Universe cycles for eternity.
Our view of the early Universe may be full of mysterious circles and even triangles but that doesn't mean we're seeing evidence of events that took place before the Big Bang. So says a trio of papers taking aim at a recent claim that concentric rings of uniform temperature within the cosmic microwave background the radiation left over from the Big Bang might, in fact, be the signatures of black holes colliding in a previous cosmic 'aeon' that existed before our Universe.

Damn trees. I hate ‘em. They’re too friggin tall.
Interesting.
It’s always fascinating to me to read such pontificating piles of conjecture and assumption.
WE are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo finite on such a finite ball . . .
with such limited tools
yet our ‘experts’
are quite glib about saying
what CERTAINLY must have happened eons ago and light years away.
Arrogance gone to seed, imho.
and parsley and sage...
Thanks for the ping!
Does quantum gravity have something to do with human consciousness and thought processes?
I wonder if our mind is connected to the quantum loops, and that neural processes are not only based on the electro-magnetic spectrum. Maybe thought produces waves in quantum fields that transcend time as we know it.
Penrose says something about this in his books — that the mind seems to transcend Newtonian physics.
If thought is connected to timeless quantum realm then maybe that explains our yearning for heaven, our inkling for eternity as expresses in art and religion or faith. It is our connection to God.
The new physics could provide scientific evidence for the existence of an eternal human soul that is able to survive this time-space universe and pass into another after death.
Heaven could be another universe designed to accept the information of our being after the destruction of our physical body.
Maybe the window into the other universe is human consciousness sparked by faith in God’s relation.
Nicely put.
And I think heaven is just another step in the infinite chain.
