Were You "Cool" in High School?

This test is based on how cool you were in High School...

What crowd you ran with, what car you drove, who you dated, etc.

It's pretty accurate.

I was fluid, I moved easily from the hoods and gangster friends of my early years to the football teammates and cheerleaders of my teen years, throw in that I was reading about a book a day, and I was comfortable with nerds as well.

I might have been the smart moccasinned, blue jeans skinny as rails type that admired you and thought you were very smart and decent but was so tongue tied, was afraid to even say hello to you!

LOL

I ran into a very large number of “just wanted out of town” folks during my many years in the The Force. After retiring, met a large number of Navy vets with the same story.

I was in the same boat - taking any job I could find in my HS summer years that would take me out of town.

Quite funny in many ways - and the military did profit from their (our) service.

It’s not actually possible to be cool when everybody with a problem goes to your mom.

LOL!

And thank you for your service. :)

"Did the band beat you up to improve their self-esteem?"

No, I was in the band. Played clarinet, the loser instrument.

Throughout H.S. girls would steal my briefcase and hide it in the girls room. I would have to rescue it before the next class.

That what pretty much the extent of my, ahem, intercourse with the fairer sex until college.

Heh, I was President of our theatre group; the Sock and Buskin Club. My Senior year, I was the manager of our annual variety show. It was LOT of fun! I was also in the Choir all three years (10th - 12th grades).

Reunions are out of the question; let the former jocks and stars attend and one-up each other, it’s no fun with no nerds present.

Hubby and I graduated from high school the same year, but in different towns; we didn't meet until two years later. We married in 1975, moved away in 1976, and neither of us have attended any reunions, since they were always during the school year, and we couldn't get away.

I DO want to get to our 40th reunions, next year. I've connected with some of my classmates on Facebook, so it will be fun to see them again, after so long.

“I drove a moped and then later a ‘78 Cadillac.”

Yikes. Are we related? I was the only person in my college to have a Caddy (1972 Sedan De Ville), *and* a moped at the same time. The Solex could actually stand upright in the back seat.

Back to high school - cool? If band was cool. I belonged to the anti-clique clique.

I walked out of my highschool and my life when I was fifteen. Left everyone in that upperclass community and learned how to do life differently. Traveled a bit, learned to support myself, finished school on my own terms.

Lots of runaways in my school, heck it was the sixties, but I was the only one who never came back.

Like Morrison, and Hendrix, the longer I was gone, the cooler I became.

No. I was FEARED!

I become feared without ever having to lift a finger. Some hoods from my class tried to bully my little brother and younger cousin and got their butts kicked big time. Because of that, I got a reputation of guy who was best left alone.

I ran with a group of about 5-6 guys who marched to our own drumbeat. The one thing that bonded us together was that we didn't care about social standing. All social cliques would associate with us and we with them. We were all good students but athletic and rebellious enough that no one took us for nerds. We all held jobs and planned on college so we didn't have time for most of the high school silliness. Not surprisingly, we all have had successful lives.
