Yes, the Naga Viper, the latest claimant to the world's-hottest-pepper crown, outdistances its predecessor, the Bhut Jolokia, or "ghost chili," by more than 300,000 points on the famous Scoville scale of tongue-scorching chili hotness.

Well, uh, they do actually try very hard to separate the "poisonous" from the "blowfish." Otherwise they, uh... die.
As for how this relates to hot peppers, I find that past a certain point of heat, the pepper taste goes away... and actually all taste whatsoever goes away... and then there's this experience of metal burning in my skull... and beer doesn't help.
Anyway, thanks for asking.

I wonder if the reason birds are not affected is that they have no stomach..just a gizzard filled with stones..
LOL! The carrot idea is terrific!
I’ve grown the Habs before because they are SUCH a pretty plant - they look great in a flower bed, actually, where you need a splash of orange. I harvested a grocery-bag full from just two plants and took them to my local (authentic) Mexican restaurant where they eagerly snapped them up. :)
Because they can. But I don’t want to, LOL! :)
This past week I had the chicken wings at the Cypress Creek Cafe in Wimberley, TX.
My eye was quickly drawn to their Devil’s Breath wing sauce, made with Ghost Chili’s, also known as Bhut Jolokia, the upto now hottest chili.
Like the menu said, you did have to sign a waiver (and have it witnessed) saying that you knew they were very hot and you couldn’t send them back.

And to really rub your nose in it, they come out sprinkled with hot pepper flakes.
They were really hot, but I’m not sure they were that much hotter than Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin’ Sauce, or Quaker Steak and Lube’s Atomic Wings (where you also have to sign a waiver, but at least you get a nice certificate).
The menu says 855,000 to 1,050,000 SHU. They were really good.
My wife ate one, I ate 7 and we took 4 home for later.
I’ll have them again.
He is kind of an evil-looking little fella, isn’t he?
Forwarded to some of the pepper-heads at work. Personally I think they’re nuts, but “endorphin rush” does sort of explain it. That’s what masochists like about being beaten with whips, IIRC. If it isn’t the same thing, it ought to be.
Just saw this posted.....
Spiciest chicken in NY.......
Nah it’s some sort of male challenge, like those guys that climb Mt Everest....Why?
just another whacky stunt some guy gotta do.
Thai’s peppers are the hottest i go and i remove the seeds, and i like the rush, tears streaming down the face the wife looking at me like i am some sort of retard....:>)
Too bad they weren’t open when we were up there last year.
I would have tried it.
Duh..
