I'm trying to learn the origins of the playground parody "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, Robin Laid an Egg...". What year and where did you first here this parody?
I heard in in 1927 at a flapper party.
1967ish
I’d still like to solve the mystery of why I can instantly recall those grade-school jingles but I can’t remember where I put my @#$%^&* car keys an hour ago.
>> “Whistle while you work, Hitler is a jerk. Mussolini cut his weenie, now it doesn’t work.”
LOL! Yes, except the local variant of the second stanza was “Shot a BB up his wee wee now it doesn’t work.”
I must have heard it from my kids so the mid '80s
lol ..early 70’s for me. I’m someone made it up around the time of the Adam West batman show seems like thats the time frame everyone here has first heard it. Another early jinge Id like to know is the origin of is the On top of spaghetti song.
and yes have the mod move this before they slap your wrist and take away your birthday lol.. You’s are im soooo much trouble for posting improperly.
Whoops. Sorry!
Did it go like this:
Comet, will make your mouth turn green. Comet, it tastes like gasoline. Comet, will make you vomit, so get some Comet and vomit today!
I new the words to the batman song in the early sixties.
What memories!
Early 60s
I think now its
Bammy smells and Biden laid an egg ;)
Speaking of changing world threats, my husband was in the Army (infantry) during the mid to late 80's. I came across his training flash cards the other day, and all of the tanks, equipment, etc. that he had to memorize were Russian vehicles. It's is kind of amazing that just 25 years ago the threat was still from the Soviet Union, and today it is Islamic terrorism.
Iron range 1966.
It was the late 60's for me -what do you think Sister Paula would have thought of "Hark the hair lipped Angels sing....? one I heard several years later!
Of course there was that time when they made me eat dog food.......
1968, at a friend’s 8th birthday party in L.A. - Lower Arkansas. It was after sundown and we were all walking next door to another friend’s house when one of the boys sang it. Why do I remember that much detail?
School bus - late 1960’s
Also the first place I heard the word “fart” used. In my house, one could never use a word like that, it wasn’t proper!!
jingle bells
santa smells
charlie’s in the grass
take this merry Christmas
and shove it up your ...
Around the same time I heard another silly spoof /childhood favorite:
MacDonald’s is your kind of place,
Hamburgers in your face,
French fries between your toes
Dill pickles up your nose
And don’t forget those chocolate shakes
Made from polluted lakes
MacDonalds is your kind of place!
Early 1970’s.
June 4th 1967 at 1:32PM CST.
About 1970, in grade school.
HA! And don’t forget the classic that will get you on a terrorist watch list today, On Top of Old Smokey............cheese............teacher...........50 beebees...........etc...
I fgorgot about that song.
Not about the teacher and the ruler though.
