When doctors want their patients asleep during surgery they gently turn the gas tap. But Anaesthetic gasses have a global warming potential as high as a refrigerant that is on its way to be banned in the EU. Yet there is no obligation to report anaesthetic gasses along with other greenhouse gasses such as CO2, refrigerants and laughing gas.
Significantly worse than CO2
One kilo of anaesthetic gas affects the climate as much as 1620 kilos of CO2. That has been shown by a recent study carried out by chemists from University of Copenhagen and NASA in collaboration with anaesthesiologists from the University of Michigan Medical School. The amount of gas needed for a single surgical procedure is not high, but in the US alone surgery related anaesthetics affected the climate as much as would one million cars.Tænk før bedøvelse

So those tanks of nitrous I saw being used to fill balloons after the Furthur concert in Baltimore last month were HARMING the environment?

I read an article about these gasses months ago. Could have been something posted here on FR. Because these anaestetics are so expensive a lot of Hospitals are capturing these gasses in scrubbers of some sort and reusing them.

The guys outside 1st Mariner Arena were only charging a couple of bucks per balloon.
I think the hospitals miught be ripping people off.

Just... wow. As the concern over “global warming” keeps shrinking, the stakes by the “global warmists” keep getting raised.
The same people who insist that CO2 somehow increases the energy content of the atmosphere, now claim that anesthetic gasses increase the energy content several fold more? If that is the case, why aren’t we harnessing this incredible source of energy? Put anesthetic gasses in huge tanks; use all the heat they generate to run turbines or something. Energy crisis solved!

Oh, please!
Enough of this Global Warming Greenhouse Gas claptrap!
I thought I was going to enjoy a good sci-fi at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIL7vUv18yA&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_222950
I shoulda known better.
It was filled with envirowhacko, global-warmist propaganda. One of the “scientists” in the movie actually said that Venus was so hot because of all the greenhouse gasses. He said it was once like Earth, and that the greenhouse gasses released by natural processes made it the hot, barren sulfurous desert it is today. Then he said that if we don’t get our greenhouse gasses under control, Earth will become like Venus.
What a DOPE!
Earth’s mean distance from the Sun is 93 million miles.
Venus’ mean distance from the Sun is 67 million miles.
Using the inverse squares law for radiation effects, it would appear that Venus suffers from about twice as much thermal and nuclear radiation from the Sun as Earth does.
Hey, Mr. BBC “scientist”, you don’t think that has anything to do with the temperatures and conditions on Venus, do you?
What - a - DOPE!
Or perhaps, better said, what - a - PROPAGANDIST!

"Tænk før bedøvelse" translates as "Think before stunning or gassing" which is the header of the next section.
"Det gode viger pladsen for det endnu bedre" translates as "The good give way for even better" and would appear to be the missing header for the next section.

"Think before stunning or gassing"
That would take all the fun out of the stunning and gassing.

When that Icelandic volcano with the unpronounceable name erupted last year stopping trans Atlantic air travel for weeks, it belched more greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere in a single day than decades of driving SUVs, using freon and the other climate change horrors being touted by the likes of Al Gore. Historically large volcanic eruptions like Mt. Pinatubo and Krakatoa did measurably change global climate in some cases for years, but guess what the earth came back to its normal equilibrium. If the earth's climate maintains a general equilibrium for thousands of years despite these real climate changing events it is laughable to believe that altering CO2 levels by parts per million will push the global climate past some tipping point into a climate change oblivion. All the “savings” in carbon emissions from decades of draconian climate change policies would have little real measurable impact on climate and be wiped out in a single volcanic eruption.
