I am starting a project and want to know if someone would like to help me do it. Once started we can develop a reset button for this economic structure.
Tom, Elen, and Sally saw “Dawn Treader” in 3-D the week before Christmas, while I was at choir practice. They like it. I’ll wait for the DVD.
The girls want to see “Tangled” now, and Tom wants to see the latest Harry Potter. Elen went with a friend a while back, and Sally is too young.
I’ve heard scuttlebutt about some films advertised as “3D” not being 3D for their entire length; only for long enough to get viewers absorbed in the action, then the 3D effects are dispensed with for the balance of the film.
Any truth to it, as far as you know?
A brief weirdness event here. I went out to the garage to get a biscuit for Ash, and there was Vlad (4), whom I hadn’t seen lately now that I think about it, standing there holding his bottom and looking upset. “I didn’t get out!” he says. “Hmm, and you wet your pants, too,” I said, and brought him in for a bath and dry clothes.
I think he went in the garage while the door was up, after Anoreth and Bill left, and was stuck inside when I put the door down. He didn’t want to come into the house through the door, because he’s not supposed to play in the garage, so he just waited for someone to raise the door again. At least he could see, since there’s a window on the door to the back yard!
Tom says the one he saw was 3D all the way through.
Awww! Poor little guy got caught in a flim-flam.
Sounds to me like he was pretty darned sure he’d be busted if he solved his entrapment by coming in through the door into the house.
That reflects a low degree of confidence in his ability to defend himself by speaking the truth, and maybe a secondary lack of faith that he would be believed.
Time for a big hug, and the standard, “If that ever happens again, just come right in through the door and tell me.” And, subject to parental discretion, reinforcement with some other form of “consolation prize.”
First I've heard of it. I'm ok with the 3D if it adds something to the film. Alice in Wonderland was pretty good, but others have kind of sucked.
I can't Thor being one of those films that would benefit...
The terrible consequence of being caught in the garage would have been my saying, “You know you’re not allowed in the garage, dingbat. Now go put your laundry away already.” I can’t understand why they all try to lie and sneak so much, because we rarely do anything to them unless someone gets hurt or there’s major property damage.
Pete sometimes wandered out back to play in the sandbox. The cold weather has kept him from straying too far. ;-)
Maybe just a rumor, then.
I’ve not seen any of the new 3D productions, myself, so I don’t know how “real” the effect is, and whether it adds anything all that impressive to a feature, or not.
If it does, then I’ve got an entire list of old movies I’d like to have reprocessed into 3D, starting with the LOTR.

Yeah. Not so bad, but who knows how that plays in the theater of his little mind? Takes some investigation to find out whether he was really entertaining some fear about coming in through the door into the house, or just out there diddling around killing time.
That's definitely a possibility, too. It could be he was having so much fun getting into stuff that he didn't realize he had to go until it was too late.
Anoreth and Bill saw "Tron: The Legacy." I saw the original with my brother in the dark ages, and it was dumb.
Kiernan’s that way. He gets an idea and he’s off and running; gathering tools and material...nevermind asking anyone whether it’s a good idea, or whether anyone minds him absconding with the material he plans to use. When he’s got a project in mind it’s “Katie, bar the door!” We usually don’t manage to catch him until he’s burned through at least a couple of feet of Scotch tape. Makes me wanna buy stock in 3M.
We're back, or at least I am. We went out for breakfast then I drove LoM to her PT appointment some distance away. Then we came home and she fired up her car to de-ice it and headed to the store.
We were very annoyed to see the lack of any preparation for the storm and that, even as of this morning, nothing had been done. Roads were really slippery. But by this afternoon the county had sanded the worst roads and even used de-icer in a few spots. Still, I saw some cars slip on some roads in town.
Not my experience, so far. Although "Avatar" came close -- 3D took a back seat to the story, even with the 3D viewing following airline seatback viewing (followed by viewing on new cellphone -- what the heck, it came on the phone and I had hours to kill on a flight).
But they seem to be getting more "responsible" with 3D now with less "let's throw stuff into the audience's face" and more "let's make it look 3D". "Dawn Treader 3D" was like that, though it would probably be as good in 2D. I think we saw "Tangled" in 3D but I don't really recall.

The strangest things happen ...
Anoreth is cleaning the kitchen. It’s one of the few places where the military training kicks in ;-).
Last time I was in weather like that, the road crews were out ASAP, usually before anyone was aware it had snowed, and coal dust was spread on the roads. It works much better than salt and doesn’t damage the vehicles.
WAY back when, we lived in a town with 4000 folks. After every snowfall of any measure, we would see a horse-drawn V-shaped sledge, clearing the sidewalks. The horse, in full harness, wore bells, and looking back, recalling his proud stance, I’m sure the horse was pleased with what he was doing.
Too bad we didn’t have video then...(Maybe it’s why I love to see the Budweiser Clydesdales in the snow...)

Allow the training to take place without comment until it’s over with...
For awhile after I left the military I would jump “toe to the line” at the foot of the bed.
That, and I’d be looking for places to stash an OP or a 60 pit.
Pretty funny, actually.
I have found it highly variable, ranging from indifferent to effective. IMHO "Megamind" made the best use of it.
But movies filmed would probably have to be refilmed with 3D cameras. I'm sure they could be reprocessed as well, but that would require a LOT of work to be done right.
