I'd sooner be roofied by Barney Frank than be subject to the holiday abomination known as green bean casserole.

Broccoli casserole is highly edible. The creator of the green bean casserole should be drawn and quartered after spending a week with a Viagra IV drip while tied to Helen Thomas’ bed.

ROFL, that is so true and fitting!

The dish is nostalgia 50s-60s - every recipe back then called for 2 cans of soup, 3 tubs of crisco, 4 containers of sour cream, 5 boxes of jello, 6 cups of cooked macaroni, 7 cups of shredded american cheese, 8 cups of margarine or oleo, 9 boxes of frozen vegetable and 10 cups kraft mayonnaise -— mix all together - oven 350 for 1 hour -yum!

A.B.C. Casserole? (Already Been Chewed)

It's probably some vegan concoction without anything even close to good in it. I don't really like the whole casserole but I like the component parts taken seperately.

Maybe I don't like it 'cause I've seen it at least twice a year every year for 53 years now and I'm just tired of it.

I even think they pureed it up and fed it to me as a baby....

Well I’m making a zucchini/squash casserole for Thanksgiving Lunch tomorrow, using the Boston Market recipe (no that doesn’t mean I’m buying it from Boston Market; it means I’m actually cooking it using the same ingredients that Boston Market does!), so we won’t be doing the green bean casserole. This thread has been quite entertaining, but just between us long-time FReepers — did you leave your computer logged in and find that your 9 y/o grandson posted this thread while you were away?

Be careful not to let the moose bite your sister though. Moose can be very vicious y’know

you’re telling me, my wifes nickname is “mamma moose”...

I just clean them, lay on a baking sheet and sprinkle dry Italian seasoning mix on them. I also add a little extra virgin olive oil into the mix.

I bake them at about 400 for about 10 mins or until they are cooked without being soft and mushy.

Mmmmmm, I do this with asparagus, zuccini, and squash. We love it and it's so easy!

To paraphrase my Dad, "Come back next year. Maybe we'll have something you like."

(When we kids would complain about the food, he'd say "Come back tomorrow. Maybe we'll have something you like.")

I just like the crispy onions, no one ever puts enought crispy onions on the top.

Word. Can't get enough crispy onions on top. Think I'll ask Mommy to save some, so I can sprinkle 'em on my green bean casserole tomorrow.

"I'd sooner be roofied by Barney Frank than be subject to the holiday abomination known as green bean casserole."

"Roofied" by Bawney Fwank?

I was gonna ask what that means, but if Bawney is involved, I don't think I wanna know.
