Singer Sheryl Crow has become the latest celebrity to get caught in the real estate crash. She cant sell her sprawling Nashville mansion, so she has gone to the extreme putting it up for auction at a bargain basement price.
Like so many stars who made it big, Crow splurged on huge house with top of the line features. But since the real estate market crash, they have become white elephants.
Now Crows house is bargain priced. The bidding has topped out at $1.1 million with the online auction set to end tomorrow night (Nov. 24).
Crow, 48, likely paid $4 million to $6 million for the house in 2006 after renting it for a few years. Initially. she put it on the market in May for $7.5 million. But no takers stepped up.
The sprawling three-story five bedroom house is nestled on 150 acres and is over 10,000-square-feet in size. Thats about three times the normal suburban house.
It has a fourteen stall barn and indoor riding arena and youll never have to want for a bathroom. It has seven full baths and one half-bath, in addition to a nannys quarters and six-car garage.
But wait theres more.
The property comes with a 3 bedroom guest cottage.
Crow, the mother of two has lived in the French-style estate, known as Cross Creek Farm for six years with sons Wyatt, 3, and Levi, seven months.
For recreation the house has a theatre room, salt water swimming pool and stellar views of the rolling fields surrounding the property.
Crow has won nine Grammys. She recorded her sixth album Detours and part of her seventh, 100 Miles from Memphis at the farm.
I think someone should roll the place. It would be fitting.
One sheet at a time.
I guess people think it will always be there or go on forever...so they buy like fools...and end up like this...
all I wanna do...
is buy a big mansion...
screw you people...
who listen to this crap...
all I wanna do...
is have 19th century decor...
until the sun comes up on millionaires avenue...

I hope she goes bankrupt.
Stupid, famous people are finally becoming poor and homeless.
Soon, they won't even be famous.
Gosh, I love America!
The median household income in the United States is around $50k. And according to this author the average house in the burbs is over 3,300 sq ft. I guess that would explain the mortgage meltdown.
Vulgar and ugly is right. It’s basically just an overgrown McMansion.
I hope she has a spare square, because I know she just crapped.
Really ? Don't think so.
Still, you could put a shooting range on that acreage :)
7 1/2 bathrooms?
No wonder she was crazy about toilet paper. She had 8 rolls she had to keep filled up.
This truly was a woman’s house.
LLS
I feel really bad she’s going to take about a 6.4 million loss on the house. I really, really do. Maybe she will view this as karma, or feeling our pain, or giving back to others in some way, or spreading the wealth around (it’s a good thing, you know?)...
Really, really sad she’s taking a rather large one up the ass on this.
I gotta say it is one of the ugliest large houses I’ve ever seen.
It’s all Bush’s fault.
I hope a gangsta rapper and his entourage move in and give the place the respect it deserves.
Loved her song “Try Not To Remember”.
“40 percent reduction in electric costs”???? I see only solar panel and it might be a solar water heater rather than a solar panel. Hard to tell in these pictures.
Frankly, I think the house is unsightly. The front is downright ugly.
She spent $6 million on a mansion in Nashville? And she calls Bush and conservatives stupid? If that mega mosque gets built then Nashville will be one of the last s****es I would want to live in.
