Singer Sheryl Crow has become the latest celebrity to get caught in the real estate crash. She can’t sell her sprawling Nashville mansion, so she has gone to the extreme — putting it up for auction at a bargain basement price.

Like so many stars who made it big, Crow splurged on huge house with top of the line features. But since the real estate market crash, they have become white elephants.

Now Crow’s house is bargain priced. The bidding has topped out at $1.1 million with the online auction set to end tomorrow night (Nov. 24).

Crow, 48, likely paid $4 million to $6 million for the house in 2006 after renting it for a few years. Initially. she put it on the market in May for $7.5 million. But no takers stepped up.

The sprawling three-story five bedroom house is nestled on 150 acres and is over 10,000-square-feet in size. That’s about three times the normal suburban house.

It has a fourteen stall barn and indoor riding arena and you’ll never have to want for a bathroom. It has seven full baths and one half-bath, in addition to a nanny’s quarters and six-car garage.

But wait there’s more.

The property comes with a 3 bedroom guest cottage.

Crow, the mother of two has lived in the French-style estate, known as “Cross Creek Farm” for six years with sons Wyatt, 3, and Levi, seven months.

For recreation the house has a theatre room, salt water swimming pool and stellar views of the rolling fields surrounding the property.

Crow has won nine Grammys. She recorded her sixth album Detours and part of her seventh, 100 Miles from Memphis at the farm.

As with government, it’s not the income that the problem, it’s the spending.

Perhaps there weren’t enough toilet paper dispensers in the house.

Incredibly vulgar and ugly—but I could really cope with having that barn and indoor arena.

To be honest, if you’re in the market for a huge, vulgar, ugly house, this is a great bargain. A lot of people would like this. To get a big house on a hundred acres with a barn and indoor for around a million absolutely would not happen in my neck of the woods.

What’s interesting about this is most celebrities don’t seem to understand that if their “customers” don’t have jobs, they aren’t going to be able to continue in the posh lifestyles to which they’ve become accustomed. Just wait until someone like Lady Gaga or George Clooney comes to this realization. Their importance will be greatly diminished.

The required opening bid was 1 million but the reserve was higher and not met.

She ought to try setting up a ‘lottery’ with a minimum ticket price, maybe $200, and then a mimimum of tickets that have to be sold. I might even take a chance for $200 bucks! If 30,000 people did she’d make close to that 6 million after costs.

Those photos show how enormous this mansion is what an energy hog it must be. Maybe that’s why she is dumping it. Too expensive to maintain
