This is unbelievable and programming suicide for 1210 AM.
The Little Talker 1210
Smerconish is a tool who refuses to take a stand on anything. I put up with him for about a week and haven’t listened since.
Smerconish is the male Susan Bray ...
IMO it's deeper than that, Smerc is a fawning suck-up to those in power.
....for any trying to make sense of this post:
It’s been quite a 2010 for conservative media icon Glenn Beck - spurring on the tea-party movement, drawing a throng to his August rally at the Lincoln Memorial and becoming a finalist for Time’s Person of the Year.
But come 2011, Beck will be off the radio in Philadelphia - at least as it stands now.
Beck and his fellow right-wing gabber Sean Hannity were dumped yesterday by the city’s top-ranked talk-radio outlet, WPHT, The Big Talker (1210-AM), in a shakeup aimed at keepin’ it local.
While Hannity and Beck - nationally the No. 2 and No. 3 most-listened-to talk hosts behind Rush Limbaugh - are scrambling to find a new home in America’s fourth-biggest media market, the shuffle means a more prominent role for locally based Michael Smerconish.
(snip)
If it were up to me,i’d say Beck can come to WMAL AM630 in DC anytime he’s ready. I like Chris Plante to a certain extent, but between the two i’d prefer Beck.
CQ, CQ.
I imagine this is an opportunity for some local 5000 watt station or an FM talk startup.
In my case I listen via an iPhone radio app, which will become more common.
I can hear several other area stations shouting, “Yea!”
This is what Obozo’s little appointee had in mind to silence talk radio.
I would wager to say they are approaching these markets behind our backs.
We will see more of this.
Count on it. If they can’t shut us down with a big bill through Congress, they will simply go at it in another way.
“Rush Radio” in the Boston market has Beck, Rush and Hannity.

You have to look at who owns the station, and whether or not they own any other stations in the same market. Sometimes, they don’t take programs off the air, they just shuffle them around from one station to another.
That's a big deal on a local basis.
Beck and Hannity are big time revenue producers, and they will land somewhere in the Philly area.

Thanks for making sense of this thread... at first I had no idea what "1210" was, but now I do recognize Philadelphia's WPHT, The Big Talker, 1210 AM.
Wow, that is shocking that WPHT would dump Beck and Hannity from a Rush station in a big market like that, and just when they could probably pick up many new listeners thanks to the Tea Party movement. Why would they do this? Hope this is an isolated incident and not the beginning of some "trend"...
I mentioned this news yesterday about 1210 in Philadelphia. I think for those in Philly another station (AM 950 or 990?) may pick up the shows or it’s possible Clear Channel could flip one of their FM signals* in town to conservative talk featuring Beck and Hannity. They could even pull Rush from WPHT like they did from WRKO Boston and call it Rush Radio etc.
*—WRFF 104.5 or WISX 106.1; though again no idea if they
would flip to talk or not but both are owned by Clear Channel.
CC’s syndication arm Premiere does Beck, Rush, Hannity (in
association with Citadel) etc.
I cant stand smerconish. He comes across as such a panzie.
