Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty constitutional conservative activist web site. Those who cannot live with that should simply stay away!! (saves wear and tear on my zot button - bitterly clinging redneck, Jim)
Romney is an unrepentant abortionist/statist lying political whore! Just to be absolutely clear, there will never ever be a RINO Romney campaign on FR!! If he somehow becomes the nominee, FR will be running a full-time campaign to DEFEAT him!! If you wish to support him then I suggest you sign off FR and onto Wankers for Mitt!!
Those statments make me worry that FreeRepublic is moving toward a DemocratUnderground kind of stance toward their users. Romney may have done some mistakes like Health Car but I have constantly heard him say that universal helath care was a mistake. If I'm wrong, so what. Lets not kick good Republicans off this site because of their views on abortion and Mitt Romney. Look, if someone says something good about Romney, fine. State your point and try to change that person's views. We are not kicking them off the site! That is DemocratUnderground style dumb. It's what they do.
We succeeded in stopping mitt Romney in 2008, and we will do it this time also, bad mouthing Romney is a very useful and necessary activity for conservatives.
We are united in the pursuit of tearing down Mitt Romney, and driving him away from politics and political influence.
A lot of people don't realize that the complaints about Fred Thompson's "fire" (lack thereof) was really a issue with some contractual arrangements he had with NBC and campaign finance laws (equal time for his Law and Order appearances). He was unable to campaign or even officially enter the race until September/October of 07, almost 6 months after most others were in the race. During this time, everyone was beating up on him and he was unable to respond, and thus the myth of a 'lack of fire' arose. Check out some of the YouTubes he put out once he was in and you'll see the fire. Sadly, it was too late to gain traction.
I third it.
(just checking in again so I haven’t seen the rest of the thread much yet)
Are you lying when you post that you live in Iceland, or when you post that you live in the United States?
Why do you lie at freerepublic?
First of all I don’t believe those polls. Nope, not one bit.
It certainly is one of the nicer things I’ve been called.
Although I never disquised my Romney defense. I was pretty outspoken whenever I defended any candidate. And when Thompson was gone, I announced that Romney was the candidate I was going to vote for (which ended up not mattering since by the time Virginia got to vote, McCain was the nominee).
The only thing I denied was that I was working for any campaign; that was and is the truth, I’m not a political operative. If I support a candidate it’s because I believe they are the best choice; I’m lousy at making decisions like that, so I pretty much don’t pick a candidate until the field is pretty thinned. That’s why I gave money and collected signatures for multiple candidates in 2008.
You wanted a Democrat in that seat. Why?
Forgive me if you already explained that stunner.
I live near Reykjavík
Your home page says you live in Iceland.
Which one is the lie
You rock! Keep up the good fight.
Sorry about that. The two paragraphs were entirely different points, and I didn’t make that clear. I did not think the purges were of political operatives, but I do think part of the issue here is political operatives coming to the site to hawk their candidates rather than have an objective discussion.
I didn’t notice. I wasn’t cheering them on, although by that time I had gotten tired of defending them because for every thing they were right about (false attacks on their candidate), they’d launch a false attack against another candidate, or against other freepers. It got tiresome.
However, I think you are wrong, and I think the many people here who hate Mitt and also disliked Rudy and wanted the Rudy supports gone would be upset to be lumped in with Mitt supporters.
Dear Freepers,
Since he leads in most polls, who will stop Romney from winning the nomination?
What is the PLAN??
- - - - - - - - - - -
Polls at this juncture? Meaningless.
He will not be supported by TEA Party Republicans and we will be heard!
That time is gone. We have to focus on the next two years.
Everyone is an idiot, but you. /s
You just lie about where you live and you’re all over the spectrum when it comes to politics and politicians.
You should try to remember that your posts here last forever...LOL.
Glad to be of help on IBTZ (and IATZ too).
I have to add that I get a smile when Jim uses the KMA abbreviation (as he certainly had to do on this thread).
Why?
Well, when business travel takes me from Texas up through the midwest, there's a big radio station in Iowa that I tune in with the callsign of KMA. Every time they do a station ID and proclaim K-M-A, I can't help but think of Free Republic. :-)
What’s the point of leading in the polls if you are in the 20s?
The key is to find that conservative candidate that, while not necessarily anybody’s first choice, is a candidate everybody CAN support, and then go ahead and push that candidate. A 20% support will look pretty feeble if there’s just one other candidate and they have 80% support.
Some of us are ready to jump behind a dozen different candidates if they are the consensus. We NEVER had a consensus in 2008; Fred Thompson was the closest we got, but he flamed out, and after that it was a 3-way split with Romney, Huckabee, and Rudy Giuliani, allowing McCain to take the nomination while getting 40% or less in the early primaries.
You didn’t really “succeed” in stopping Mitt, other than in the sense that with the conservative vote split between Mitt, Huck, and Rudy (still can’t get that out of my head), McCain took the nomination.
Although I do realise that some conservatives in the end DID support McCain in order to stop Romney in the early primaries, because they figured McCain would falter later.
Of course, if the stated purpose of the site is to be anti-Romney, and if we’ve driven everybody away who would say anything good about Romney, it is likely that the opinion of the site will be severely discounted.
Not that it matters — because hopefully while I’m sure some people are still bent on “stopping Mitt Romney”, I think after four years of Obama MOST conservatives will be about finding the conservative we can all support, rather than just having as a goal keeping one guy out of the office.
I’m pretty sure we can keep Romney out — all we’d have to do is all vote for Obama. I’d rather have a better option, thank you.
Still, he hit 40% shortly after entering; so he lost support after he was in the campaign.
But for whatever reason, it was still sad that he couldn’t get the support he needed, because I think he would have been a good candidate.
Your profile claims that you’ve been a member since spring of 1997. What was your earlier freeper name?
I don’t know which is the lie but I know who is the liar.
