I am hoping they make it optional.
I am tired of the prying going on, now, if you use Google, it fills out the fields as you type.
So how much of my typing ON MY COMPUTER is google intercepting and recording? If I open a DOS window, does google see/know that?
How the heck is google tied into the bios on my machine so that things I type are getting sent to them?
There were thumbnail pics of my niece, my next door neighbor and a few other people that I know. There were also several people that I had no idea who they were.
I'm thinking, "How the hell does Facebook know my connections to these people? I had never received invitations to join Facebook by most of these people. How did it know that I KNEW them? Then I realized, that the people I didn't know, whose photos were shown in those thumbnail pics WERE PEOPLE THAT WERE ON MY EMAIL ADDRESS LIST - PEOPLE I HAD SOLD THINGS TO ON EBAY.
Then I realized that all of these people listed - I had had email contact with before. HOW THE HELL DOES FACEBOOK GET ACCESS TO MY EMAIL ADDRESS LIST??????
Could someone explain that to me?
I use duckduckgo.com instead of google. It’s supposed to be more private.
I don't Google, I Bing. Have not noticed anything like that other than a list of previous visit matches for what you are entering, which can be turned off.
The google field fill out is nothing more than hot wiring their text box with common items. They know that the most common things people are looking for that start with “mad” are “madmen” “madison school” “madden 11” and “madonna” and they’ve hotwired their text box with a dictionary style auto-finish list that offers those. E-mail clients have been doing it for over a decade. It’s not intercepting anything, it’s just code in the text box. Of course if you’re using a browser with autocomplete (which is most of them) you’re browser is locally caching all kinds of junk you type in it (just the browser, not DOS) for the same kind of thing. Can be kind of creepy the first time your credit card number magically appears.
And no Google isn’t tied into the bios, the only time what you type gets sent to them is when you push the button that sends it to them. All that textbox stuff is locally executed code.
Some concerns over privacy are rational. Some are not. I'll leave you to your concerns.
“Google Sharing” software is your friend. It routes through a proxy so your information is protected.
You should google your Freeper user name. That’s a kicker!
