This will be the 3rd annual Freeper Thanksgiving Recipes thread. We always get such great recipes and ideas for Turkey day. Take one and/or leave one.
Here I am reading this thread, and now I am hungry!
Best recipe I know for sweet potato pie starts with “enough sweet potatoes for a pie....” Says so right there on the card. Handed down from the 19th century.
One simple suggestion for the holidays I learned was to always cook carrots in 7-up. Works, too.
That, and don’t forget to prick the chestnuts before roasting.
We are investing this year in a 15lb live turkey being dressed on the Monday before turkey day. Right now, he/she is being raised on the farm we bought a share of this year.
I’ve never (a) bought such a big bird & (b) spent so much on one so I’m a little nervous about messing things up. Oh, I’ve done turkey all kinds of ways, spatchcocked on the grill, whole on the grill, roast in the oven. I plan on brining, but beyond that....Help!!
LOL-we always serve these margaritas to those coming in the door.
We find that after a few of these, our guests are not so inclined to bring up politics!
That is good stuff, love it.
For years Harden and Weaver were a “Washington Institution” with their morning drive show on WMAL AM 630.
They used to push a “Fresh Popcorn Stuffing” which naturally involved raw pop corn - -you put a few of cups in the bird and you knew it was done when the oven door blew off or some such nonsense.
Got so ‘good’ (BAD) that in later years they had to run a disclaimer because people were actually trying it.
Then naturally the threatened law suits...
Bookmark! Yum!
love them chicken wings
Yup! Hey RBB where you been?
Fill it with enough good proteins, eggs and cheeses, you won't need such a big turkey, ham or prime rib, or 15 different vegetable casseroles. Cut it with a knife like you would a cake and pry each serving out with a pie-knife.

well, BTTT you, too! :)
Read this, It is to die for. Read the reviews...
Distant relatives in the Chicago land area has us over for T-Day eon's ago when we were still newly-wedish and they did per the original magazine article. We have been doing it ever since.
spatchcocked on the grill,
This doesn’t sound legal somehow :)
Thanks for all the pings Red Devil!
Yeah it is that time of year for the Foodie threads figured the folks ove on the Gardening thread would appreciate them, I hope they do. Some good threads in this past week.
Not a recipe.
A *Tip*
When you prep your turkey, cut a square of cheese cloth about 18” to 20” square. Line the cavity of the bird with a single layer of cheese cloth. Then stuff as normal. Twist the end shut to hold things secure.
When the turkey is done, a simple tug will pull out the stuffing leaving the bird clean.
How long did you microwave it? My oven is on the fritz and I might just have to nuke the bird. Anything else I need to know?
