Just spoke with old friend, very senior retired USAF general officer/pilot. Says his contacts, many of whom were his "boys," have no idea what Pacific missile is/was
As I was calling him, he was calling me to run my old network traps to see if anyone at the network desks in NY or DC have any idea what this was!
Data from video seems to be that it was large, ballistic, (not cruise) sub-launched. Course seemed to be trans-polar, so could have impacted in Arctic, Russian Far East, China, etc.
Current guesses... and these are wild guesses (some from the O Club at his lunch)
1: Crazy Russian or Chinese sub captain. No explosion because they didn't want one, or captain did not have correct codes for the PAL.
2: Islamic.......... ????? Demonstration?????
3: Hoax... but that seems way to far fetched.
Navy is also supposedly bat sh*t over this because there was no acoustic detection of sub!
NORAD scratching head ????
There may be an explanation, but no one knows what it was... or is!
>>>Unless there are some fast answers here in a few hours, were going to have a full blown national security crisis to deal with while our beloved trollop in chief is dancing around over seas.
Few hours my butt. The time for a crisis while man-child president plays was the moment that thing hit the sky.
Terrorists could steal, purchase, or be provided a nuclear weapon and perform an EMP attack against the United States simply by launching a primitive Scud missile off a freighter near our shores, he said. We do not need to be thinking about missiles coming over the pole. There are thousands of ships out there, particularly in the North Atlantic shipping lanes, and any one of them could have a Scud missile on board.
The congressman also raised the question of retaliation and how an EMP sneak attack could not only go undetected, but that it might be impossible to find out who was responsible after the fact.
If it were launched from the ocean, we would not know who launched it, he said.
Yet, over time, an EMP attack would likely result in much more death than a nuclear attack on a major city, he said.

Isn't that a twin rotor helo, at the start of the clip, oriented towards the missile track?
That'sa a high traffic civil aviation area..lots of bug jets in the air..surely at least ONE pilot would have seen it..( kind of hard to miss) and filed a report with ATC..
Actually, that’s the largest model rocket ever built.
And it still didn’t even come close to the altitude of the one in the news footage.
Notice how long the ‘burn’ is on the model compared to the one on the news.
Nope. Not even close.
Because what they do know is far far worse than the embarrassment of saying they don't know?
Could it have been an underwater pre-positioned site? I assume the Navy's been out to check... What do satellites show?
Yeah, having finally found the footage everyone was talking about, I agree.
Another Freeper also pointed out that anyone sending up that large a rocket would probably seek publicity.
Another comment pointed out that a rocket that large would have to be FAA registered.
Oh well, it was a thought.
That said, what's your best guess?
We’re on it...Just wait...We’re okay....

(scroll down for video)
At 27 seconds into the video there is an aircraft flying from the right side of screen in the direction of the contrail. I think I saw a light flash on the aircraft. Not sure.
Any reports of pilots reporting seeing anything in the area?
Gov. Moonbeam has a rocket in his pocket?
‘s what I get for posting before reading the whole thread... ;)
In my defense, I spent time going back and checking to see if I remembered correctly, and it was much more than 7 seconds! (Really. I did. Honest!)
Uh, there is potentially a hugh difference between seeing the “cloud” generated and seeing the aftermath. The video shows the “cloud” being made.
Good point. Surely the air traffic control for the area would be able to confirm if an aircraft was on that flight path. Have they been asked?
No offense, but retired, no matter what rank, is probably well outside of "need to know" territory.
Stealth?
Surely you jest, they aren’t smart enough to know what this could possibly mean.
