Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau says President Barack Obama is difficult to satirize. In an interview marking Doonesbury's 40th anniversary, Slate.com's David Plotz asked Trudeau: Who's the hardest politician to satirize, and why? Trudeau answered:

The real issue is that GT and other leftists are unwilling to highlight any of the many ridiculous aspects of Obozo b/c (1) they are soooo politically correct, and (2) even if they could overcome their PC instincts for a moment they are terrified of being called ‘racist’ for any hint that Obamessiah is not for real, and (3) they are desperately longing for Obozo to succeed with his agenda.

With Bill Clinton, it was easy for leftists to be critical at times b/c of his ‘triangulation’ tendencies - Obama is a leftist above all (below all), so even when he is pretending to be ‘moderate’ much of the left ala Garry Trudeau does not dare do anything to undermine him.

Gary Trudeau is just another leftist hack.

There’s no indication one way or the other in the Wiki article. Jane Pauley is apparently a very private person except for discussing her bi-polar problem.
