State health officials say a woman in Lake County has been diagnosed with bubonic plague.
Its the first diagnosis in Oregon in 15 years. The disease terrorized Europes population more than 600 years ago, but the plague is treatable when caught early.
The plague is extremely rare these days. Its a bacterial infection carried by rodents, and is transmitted to humans though fleas.
Dr. Emilio DeBess is the public health veterinarian and an epidemiologist with Oregon Department of Human Services.
He says the disease, once known as the Black Death got somewhat of a bad rap after killing off a third of Europes population in the 1300s.
But he says thanks to scientific advances, its no longer a death sentence.
Emilio DeBess: Its a very treatable condition with antibiotics and so thats usually not a concern, back then they didnt have antibiotics. We do have very good antibiotics that treat the infection.
Health officials have not released the name of the Lake County woman who fell ill at the end of August.
DeBess says authorities are now trying to determine the source of the infection.
...in a private health care society, which we have had stolen from us by the Democrat Party of Death and it's Chief Kenyan.
Be ready, folks. We are being driven into the 19th century, with life-spans and technology to match.
Flu like symptoms and large black bruises on the body, hence the name black plague. The lymph nodes also get very sore, if I recall correctly.
Yes and I think the Med Workers asking new PTs if you have had contact with Immigrants lately is a nice touch. TB maybe?
I’ll bite, where?
SOMEWHAT of a bad rap??!!
“Another case of DDT being needed..”
What does DDT have to do with this? Having been a 3 time MRSA recipient, I don’t think its funny. All kinds of crazy stuff out there and coming to a neighborhood near you.
Thank you for your service.
Seems to be coming from Mexico into NC at least, maybe other places as well.
Lots of tape worms. Their eggs get in the bloodstream and get to the brain. Get encapsulated.
Our tax dollars are paying for a lot of neurosurgery.
Thanks for your response ... I will research further.
As for my service, I thank my country that I was allowed to serve. It was a privilege and an honor.
Snip: Over at this thread at Jihad Watch, Max Publius of the blog Brave News World left the following information:
Muslims caused the Black Death in Europe by biological warfare. This may be one of Islam's few innovations. Muslims catapulted diseased, dead bodies over the walls into Christian Constantinople. From there, bubonic plague spread into Europe and killed over 50 million people, or one in three Europeans. Historians obscure the link to Islam by calling these jihadist Muslims "Mongols," but they were actually Muslim, using Arabic names, and worshipping Mohammad .
If the plague hits your town do not move
Snip: A hadith has been mentioned in al-Bukharis al-Sahih on the authority of Yahya bin Yamar, according to which Ayesha, Mother of the Faithful, says that she asked the Holy Prophet about the epidemic of plague.
He said: It was a scourge sent by Allah unto whom He willed. Now it has been made a blessing for the Muslims. A person who stays in the affected town, shows patience and believes that nothing will befall him except what Allah has ordained, will receive the same reward as a martyr.
Now we quote another hadith on this very subject. It is mentioned in al-Kafi, Vol. VIII. According to it Ubaydullah al-Halabi asked Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (a) whether a person was allowed to move out of a place where plague had broken out?
The Imam (a) said: There is no harm. The Prophet only forbade the leaving of a place which was situated in front of the enemy position. When plague broke out there and the people began to flee from it, the Prophet said that he who fled from there, would be considered to have run away from a battlefield. The Prophet said so because he did not want the Muslims to desert their position.
“once known as the Black Death got somewhat of a bad rap after killing off a third of Europes population...”
Other than the dead part, it’s just a nice little friendly infection!!
Who writes this crap????
Jeesh!
SE Asia via Mexico?
I always try to avoid Black Death like the plague.
That’s a good thought. We will hold that thought. I feel better.
(Reference to FReeper Matt Bracken's excellent novel Foreign Enemies and Traitors novel, in which a plot line involves government officials intentionally introducing the plague to effect a desired political outcome.)
My sister-in-law just told me about that. Does it really work?
So now we have the bubonic plague, leprosy, bed bugs and other assorted diseases and annoying infestations. Nice.
“As for my service, I thank my country that I was allowed to serve. It was a privilege and an honor.”
And we thank you. This has become an R&D issue and lack of funneling of money for antibiotics. Most people need antiobiotics for a week. People need anti-depressants, HBP, Heart meds, diabetes meds, etc for a lifeime. We need to change our focus soon. If H1N1 is causing deaths, imagine a biological attack? Its not about govt, but the entities that control curing foreign illness..
Let’s face it, America’s got the Black Death and we have to wait two more years for the cure...
Unrestricted illegal immigration from the Third World. Millions of people moving here without a medical check up. What do we expect?
