I drink vodka.
What is this low-carb diet thingy? I drink beer simply because I wanna get buzzed...and the ugly girl in front of me becomes a Victoria Secret supermodel.
Seriously, Glenn Fiddich or Glenn Levit should do it.
Good bourbon is lower in calories.
If you are going to mix liquor with diet coke, drink cheap liquor.
If you are trying to lose weight DON’T drink any alcoholic beverages at all. Hard liquor has no carbs, but converts to carbs once you drink it. Your body will use up this energy first before attacking any food calories you have eaten. That said, with respect to weight loss, there is no difference between the hard liquors, they all have about the same calories per shot, I think about 90.
I don’t believe that spirits are the way to go, largely because the alcohol messes with blood sugar levels.
However, (under Atkins, anyway, different low-carb diets have different approaches) a single glass of wine (taking the place of fruit) after induction should be okay. At maintenance, any low carb beer should be good, if it replaces a grain (Michaelob Ultra and Miller Lite being the best ones I’ve noticed for low carb).
At maintenance, you can introduce spirits (stay away from anything with added sugar, especially liqueurs).
Also, rather than Rum and Diet Coke go with Rm and Diet RC/Diet Rite, as Diet Coke is aspartame based, and is frowned upon because aspartame messes with blood sugar levels in a way that sucralose/Splenda do not.
Preferred sweeteners are sucralose and stevia.
Of course, the higher the alcohol content the more calories, but the less you need to get buzzed. So 151 and Wild Turkey might be the best bet, if consumed straight. But they're often combined with sugary mixers.
If you’re having a problem trying to think of a way to lose weight and continue to drink, maybe you should consider limiting your drinking. Sounds like you might have a potential drinking problem if drinking is so important to you.
Distilled spirits are accepted in the Atkins diet, as there are no carbohydrates present in the distillate. Beer on the other hand is infused with carbs. Go with Bushmills, Glenmorangie or Aberlauer and, by all means, eschew Budweiser. Experience speaks. Single malt Scotch will set you free. Trust me on this point. sd

If that can be done, "Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die".
I can’t help you with the alcoholic side of your drink recipe. All I have to say is, drop the diet coke and drink the real thing. The diet stuff is worse for you than the real stuff. You may fool your brain, never your body.
I tried an series of experiment for a year in which I kept meticulous weight records, varied what I drank, and always order the same post drinking Royal Two Tiger Palace Banquet Meal For Eight at my Chinese food joint. Statistically, with in the margin of error, nothing varied my weight, except for the month long pints of whole milk White Russians. But, ah, I threw that data set out as it was so off.
Rock band name ping.
