Earlier this year, I was eating at a rib joint in Fort Myers Florida.
There was a country and western song playing over the restaurant's Muzak system.
I can't give you any specific lyrics but I believe the song was called "Carolina" or "Oh Carolina". If nothing else, the song had the word "Carolina" in it. The song was more upbeat and fast - near as I can remember.
I've checked around on the Internet (search engines and Youtube) but can't find what I'm looking for.
I'd appreciate any suggestions or recommendations as to what this song may have been. Thanks for the help!
It might be the James Taylor song. Nice song though he is a little lib.
I dunno what it is, but it’s on my 1 terabyte hard drive. ALL music is on there ........................ FRegards

James Taylor: Caroline In My Mind.
try to remember it afterwards, can’t. Annoying, but it happens a lot.”
Thought that only happened to old folks. Grab a pen and write it on your hand, napkin, toe of your tenny, whatever is handy.
Yeah, Steven Wright called it: “I have a shell collection. I keep it scattered on beaches throughout the world. Perhaps you’ve seen it. “
Corey Smith?
Me and you in a midnight blue, 82 Camaro
Crossin over the Hartwell bridge movin fast as she would go
Windows down, radio up, we were singin Freebird
Flyin up to your daddys cabin just outside of Spartanburg
Do you remember the way you looked at me back then
Two hungry eyes wrapped up in a smile so innocent
It all makes one hell of a reminder
Keeps me cryin Carolina
We had a hotel room with a harbor view and a bottle of Chianti
That spring break in Charleston, it keeps comin back to haunt me
Took a carriage ride to the battery, toasted shots above the water
Then stumbled cross the cobblestone, hands holdin us together
Do you remember the way we carried on
Blew all our money and we had to starve the whole way home
It all makes one hell of a reminder
Keeps me cryin Carolina
I cant let it go, no I cant let it go
I dont wanna let go, oh no it feels too far away
Do you remember the single bed that we slept in
When Id ride up to Clemson and hide in your room the whole weekend
It all makes one hell of a reminder
Keeps me cryin Carolina
Don't listen to them, it's obviously an old Neil Sedaka song:
Rumour had it at the time that the song was really about Neil's Czech or Slovak lover whose name was Karol (Charles).Oh, Carolina, I am but a fool Darling, I love you tho' you treat me cruel You hurt me and you made me cry But if you leave me I will surely die Darling, there will never be another 'Cause I love you so Don't ever leave me Say you'll never go I will always want you for my sweetheart No matter what you do Oh, Carolina, I'm so in love with you
Whatever song it was it would have better if it was this one.

Carolina, I Hear You Calling by The Charlie Daniels Band?
You can hear 30 seconds of it here:

Carolina I hear you calling
I just have to close my eyes and I’ll be there
Carolina I hear you calling
I can almost touch the mountains in your hair
This is a pretty old song, released late 70s, early 80s, I think.
“Carolina in the Pines”
Awesome song!
I agree with the folks who have suggested “Carolina in the Pines” by Michael Martin Murphey. Great upbeat tune!
But come on, come on down Sweet Virginia,
I want ya to come on, come on down, I beg of you.
Come on, come on down, you got it in ya.
Got to scrape that shit right off you shoes.
Josh Turner sings South Carolina Low Country but it’s moderately upbeat. Do you recall if Carolina was a state or a person? Jason Aldean sings She’s Country which only mentions Carolina; it’s more energetic, but the title would seem more memorable than the couple of mentions.
Carolina Rain by Ron Spears is upbeat, on the bluegrass side of country. http://www.amazon.com/Carolina-Rain-Spears-Within-Tradition/dp/B00020W0EW/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1285561750&sr=1-3
