Wallace agreed to a plea agreement in which charges were reduced to criminal attempted manslaughter and illegal discharge of a firearm, instead of the initial four charges of attempted first-degree murder.

Two thieves, one shot and FOUR first-degree murder charges. Must be some new math???

What I don’t like is he can’t own a gun. So, now it is out there that an elderly gentleman is alone in his house unarmed. Perhaps he can “borrow” a gun. He wouldn’t “own” it. It sounds like this poor guy has been set up for some sort of violent act and he is not allowed to protect himself. Just a thought

Jefferson County District Attorney Scott Storey said, "It is illegal to shoot someone who is stealing your property."

It ain't illegal in Texas, brother.

One of the suspects, 28-year-old Alvaro Cardona-De Lorea, was shot through the eye, leaving him with brain damage and a disfigured skull. Cardona has undergone a competency evaluation which showed he may not be competent to stand trial. His case has been continued. <<
The DA suffers from brain damage for dragging an honest citizen through court for defending his property when the government chooses to look the other way at illegal immigrants (who I often have nothing against if they are just working).

"His mistake was not killing them."

The above statement is interesting in that right now "them" means the thieves.

However, I've a strong feeling that before too much time passes many Americans are going to define "them" as all those who are responsible for prosecuting the shooter...

Welcome to the Obamanation...

Criminal illegal aliens arrested many times for theft, protected by the state of Colorado.

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/24231446/detail.html
“”...Torres-Ochoa was arrested for aggravated vehicle theft and other felony theft charges in Adams County in 2005, according to state crime records.

But the more serious charges were dropped and Torres-Ochoa was allowed to plead guilty to trespassing on farm land, court records showed. He received a deferred sentence, allowing him to have his record cleared if he stayed out of trouble for two years. He was also ordered to perform 20 hours of community service.

Yet, Torres-Ochoa was arrested again in 2008 for felony larceny in Adams County.

Agricultural trespass plea deals became a hot issue in the 2006 governor’s race, when it was revealed that the Denver district attorney’s office, under future Gov. Bill Ritter, repeatedly allowed people charged with serious drug or violent crimes to plead guilty to farm land trespass.

Like Ritter’s office, other county district attorneys at the time used the agricultural trespass charge because undocumented immigrants were likely to plead guilty to the lesser crime to avoid deportation.

A 2006 Colorado law required law enforcement officers to report an arrested individual to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement if they have “probable cause” to think the person is in the country illegally.

In Denver alone, Cardona-De Lorea was cited six times for driving without a license, four times for driving without insurance and three times for driving without valid license plates between March 1999 and July 2005, according to court records.””

Torres is charged with theft of an at-risk adult. His next court appearance is Oct. 4

How about illegal entry into the U.S.A.?

What the article doesn't mention is the Wheat Ridge D.A. never arrested the thieves even though they admitted to stealing the truck. It wasn't until the story got the attention of talk radio that ICE arrested them.

The D.A. will have blood on his hands if the old man is attacked in his home now, imho.

G. Gordon Liddy borrowed a few guns from Mrs. Liddy and it apparently worked well.

...and I continue to wonder whether there aren’t any Colorado elected officials who aren’t brain-damaged from the lack of oxygen.

Wallace agreed to let the state destroy the gun that was used in the shooting.

Huh? Are they afraid it has a taste for human blood now?
