Yes, I know this was a study done on mice, but this drug may prove to be of value in the future.

Well, let's hope so, but as Chris Rock says;

"They ain't for curing nothing, like any drug dealer, the money's in the comeback!

They're still mad over the money lost curing Polio!

This is exciting news indeed. Wonder if it will work for other types of PN?

I bet something substantial is cooked up by scientists and doctors. Anyone who manages to come up with something will get many prizes, a Nobel no less and a Nobel in medicine cements you like no other as a doctor and scientist.

“...The drug is still in pre-clinical development. It will likely need another year or two of study, then the researchers hope it could be advanced to clinical trials in humans....”

How many feet will not make the trip? Definitely agree with the Chris Rock quote in your post though!!!!

Thanks

I always knew Chris Rock was an ignorant asshole. The loss of legs is one of the most devastating and expensive consequences of diabetes. I don't know how many patients I have seen who have lost one leg or both, and I'm not talking octogenarians--people in their fifties and sixties, many times.

If this preparation can prevent that outcome it will be worth every penny it cost to develop and much much more.

Hinkley, you ignorant slut(SNL ref.)/sarc

You totally missed the whole point, almost all human medical misery is easy to despell with simple cost effective remedies widely discounted and sophisticatedly poo poo'd by Big Pharma to support their bottom line.

Yes, the drug companies seem to put a lot of money into drugs that diabetics will take for decades. All those drugs do is reduce the blood glucose values. There is no proof they reduce long-term complications of the disease.
