I teach History at a private secondary school (high school) in Australia. It's already Sunday here and I'm considering changing some of my lessons for tomorrow. I realised last week that to my senior students, 9/11 is history - it happened when they were still little kids and they were to a great extent shielded from it. At least half a dozen of my students are planning on going into the Australian Defence Force next year, and they may well find themselves serving in the war that started that day or something else coming from it.
They know what happened - the facts of it. But these are kids of a TV generation and I think there'd be real value for their learning if they could see news broadcasts from that day. I've managed to source some from British TV news, and I'm guessing there must be some from US news sources out there somewhere - if anyone can point me to where I can get something like a recording of news programs from that morning in the US, I'd rather use those than British sources.

I personally don’t have links to news coverage...but it was re-lived today here in the US, on Fox News for sure.
You should be able to search You Tube to find coverage stories. The Fox coverage on 9-11 was very good.
MSNBC doeos a repeat of NBC coverage from that day. It must either be on youtube or MSNBC website.
I had the day off.
I was feeding my 2 and 4 y.o. kids breakfast. Cocoa Puffs.
CNN was on the TV and FreeRepublic on the computer.
Nothing's been the same since.

Yes, I’ve been recording Fox all weekend here on my PVR (it is part of Australian pay-TV packages) and there’s some I can use from there certainly. There’s a program on right now that includes live footage coupled with interviews, and FDNY radio calls - and it’s good. But I stress with my students, primary sources are better than any others and finding ‘live’ news would be great.
It’s a Jesuit school and as an adherent of the Church of England, I don’t get involved in teaching religion. I can’t completely avoid discussing it teaching history, but I’m cautious.

Live news was very suspect that day. Other than the morning news shows being totally caught off guard by the second plane impacting on live tv. It was interesting though that even the lib tv media instantly said terrorism after the second strike (implying muslim). It took two slaps upside the head, and by the third slap, they were hopeless
Yeah, I remember it like yesterday too. I can totally see it. Very detailed visual memory of it. I had just gone back to school to finish my EE and was living in an ancient off campus apartment. I was headed out the door to class but stopped to look at the TV. The first tower had been hit...looked like it might have been an accident. Then the second tower was hit and obviously it was no accident. I can’t remember if I left for class before or after the towers collapsed, but I remember driving to school in a daze and with occasional tears, then walking around campus in a daze. It was a beautiful early Fall day — very clear. Strange to think it was nearly a decade ago.
