How long has the link to Facebook"like" been at the top of the FR article page? Or am I seeing things?
I just saw it tonight. Went to check in at FB, then return to FR. There was the FB “like” box. I don’t mix my politics with family/friends at FB. They are two totally separate things.
I don’t txt or IM either.
That’s very wise, I generally keep my Facebook comments related to sports. I admit most of my family/high school pals are liberals, but there has to be more to life than just politics, FR is where I can vent my spleen.
I like :)
Well, darn! LOL!
I’m not even sure WHY I do; just curious I guess.
Maybe now we know why FR froze up this past weekend. Get rid of facebook crap please. FR is fine the way it is. Thanks in advance.
It’s just not worth getting involved. No one is going to change anyone else’s mind. All that can happen with family/friends is hard feelings.
In ‘08, one of my nieces (an Obama fan) got an email from her cousin, blasting Obama. She sent back a snippy email insisting he not email her any more of that stuff. My brother and another (pro-Obama) cousin had to agree, mid- October 08 not to talk again till the election was over. Who needs that ? And Thanksgiving ‘08 wasn’t too happy at our house, either, where I actually had to feed my 2 Obama-voting offspring.
So is this the “official” FB page? Or another?:

Shut your mouth! Are you series?
LOL, you too? Level 775
I would suggest a severe lashing for anyone who clicks otherwise.
Ooops!
Can I get a do-over, or do the beatings commence immediately?
(just kidding)
I knew that FR had some old posters around here, but damn, friend! That takes the friggen cake!
It's also on your Ping page. That's where I first noticed it.
I saw the words, "396 people like this", on my ping page, and thought, "WTF? No way do that many people "like" my posts that much."
When did you log in?
Don’t like TiVoing and leave that up to Mrs.SR.
I know what you mean. I lurked here for years before signing up in 07. I think I first saw FR around 04. The discourse here was so elevated over what I was accustomed to, that I was too daunted to join. Got a lot of education in the following years, just lurking.
Army Brat 1st class, here. 1953 - 1967. I well remember the world you're talking about. I'm practically an alien in today's culture.
But, I do see the usefulness of Facebook and the www in general. Like another poster said, (paraphrasing) "Obama won the election by using FB and the internet."
We conservatives have to come to grips with mastering the tools of the New Media. It's actually responsible for our newfound ability to connect, organize, and rabble-rouse.
