Its been nearly two years since Connie Culp underwent the worlds first near total face transplant and in that time, she has made incredible strides.
When Culp made her first public appearance in May 2009, her face was bloated and squarish, her speech was hard to understand, and her skin drooped in big folds. But thanks to the skilled hands of surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic, who performed the initial surgery, she is ready to face the world again with her head held high.
When you look back, Ive come a long way, Culp said.

Amazing!
I’m glad they were able to do this for her. Sadly, your face is how people know you, and if you are disfigured, it has got to do a number on how you feel about yourself, since people will react negatively.
I wish her a happy life, she’s been thru hell.
I don’t know why, but the idea of face transplants gives me the creeps. It’s still amazing what the results are.
I was going to post something funny, but nah. This is amazing for this woman. What a miracle and a blessing!
Yes, it is really amazing. What some people have to endure is incredible.
A medical marvel. Beautiful!

It didn’t have anything to do with Heidi Montag, did it? :-) Seriously, of course, I’m bowled over by how great this is.
Call me crazy, but 8/23/10 looks kinda kissable....
She has obviously dyed her hair.
Must. Not. Make. Drapes-and-carpet. Comment...
This story reminds me of a man who used to hang around the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Summer Street in front of South Station in Boston in the late 1980’s. He had no face. Basically a skin-covered “gap” below his eyes to his neck. It was horrible to see.
What a difference 20 years makes.
Wow! She looks great!
Good for her.
There is a young lady who walks from home to her job at the local Walgreens and I seen her while driving. She has a blob of skin the size of two grapefruits. I think of the hell she had to go through since she was a kid. I know a lot of times, she starts with a lot of negative points especially when it comes to jobs. Some of it maybe people who hire may not be comfortable with her either and may base their hiring decision where if the current people there would accept her or not.
Woman whose face was disfigured made beautiful thanks to plastic surgery ping.
Here’s the link to what she looked like in 2004 before being shot
