The house of the former Beatle Ringo Starr has been under threat for a number of years.
Beatles lovers in Liverpool have united in a bid to save Ringo Starr's home which is under threat of demolition.
The Save Madryn Street (SMS) campaign will be launched at the city's Hard Day's Night Hotel. It will be headed by local Ringo lookalike Max Frudd.
Born Richard Starkey on 7 July 1940, the drummer lived at the house for the early years of his life.
The Victorian terrace in Madryn Street, Toxteth, is one of hundreds in the "Welsh Streets" area to be bulldozed.
Starr's birthplace has been repeatedly earmarked for demolition for the past five years as part of a plan to build more modern family homes in the area.
Discussions to move number nine to the new Museum of Liverpool are currently on hold.
But official demolition notices have now re-appeared in the street.
...Phil Coppell, a Liverpool Beatles guide; Steve Barnes from the Hard Days Night Shop; Dave Bedford, historian and author of Liddypool; Frank Carlyle, author and Chris Johnson, a journalist, are behind the campaign.
Mr Frudd is a keen drummer who tours round the country impersonating Ringo as well as playing his own music.
They say the small terraced home attracts thousands of visitors a year and its removal would have a harmful impact on the city's tourism...
"The homes of Paul McCartney and John Lennon are already preserved and Ringo is no less important.
"We want to see Ringo's birthplace conserved and turned into proper tourist destination and we are also taken by the idea that some of the houses could be converted for tourist lets."

Install the John Lennon John and you are on your way to reuniting the Beatles...
Screw McCartney and Lennon. Ringo is my favorite.
What in the what???
The guy's probably made a bazillion dollars, and he's living in some hovel in the shade of a wrecking ball?
Probably lost it all on scratch off lottery tickets. I know that's my downfall.
My fave is Stu Sutcliffe - had the good sense to die before they made it big.
It would seem to me that Mr. Starr has gazoodles of money to “save” his old home if it were necessary.
agreed
“Pete Best forever, Ringo Never”
The Beatles’ tourguide in Liverpool and the local Ringo impersonators are worried about being out of work in this economy.
Ringo wasn’t born in this house. He was born in the Underground as the Blitz raged overhead. This part of Liverpool is called Dingle. You don’t go there.
Perhaps he’ll get by with a little help from his friends.
I hope Ringo took a Photograph.
“We all live in a ....ahh...eh....umm....bugger”
I doubt he lives there today; it’s his childhood home. If he gave a rat’s ass about it, I’m sure he could afford to “save” it from the ball!
What a tragedy! Could could this happen to Ringo who belonged to a group “more popular than Jesus?????”
I say tough. Maybe Tiger Woods could use a room mate?
Ringo's always upbeat and positive, and although it took me several decades to realize it, also a pretty good drummer. I'd figured he was an average dummer in the right place at the right time, until I heard him sit-in with another group a few years ago. There was no mistaking his distinct style and power to guide the sound of the group. It blew me away. I suddenly heard how much of the Beatles' tradmark "sound" was because of Ringo.
I have a bucket list of sorts that are people I’d love to have a cuppa or spend an afternoon with hanging out. Ringo is high on that list. I love the guy’s nature.
Burn it to the ground.
wow.. I’m a huge Beatles fan.. but this is a bit ridiculous. They were a great pop band. the best, in my opinion.
but it’s not the home of Winston Churchill, for god’s sake.
