Driver Fined $100 For Having Goat In Trunk

BEDFORD, Va. -- A driver has been convicted of animal cruelty and fined $100 after Virginia authorities found a goat stuffed in the trunk of her car.
Bedford County sheriff's deputies discovered the goat bound and in the trunk during a drunken driving checkpoint in June.
Fiona Ann Enderby of Washington, D.C., told police she bought the goat from a farmer to give to four passengers in her car, who are from Kenya but reside in Lynchburg in central Virginia.

The goat was panting heavily and animal control officers say the temperature in the trunk was 94 degrees. Cruelty to animals should have a bigger fine than $100.

The police officer had an interesting day. After the goat incident, the next person he pulled over had six chickens in his car, but they were given a warning and told to give three of the chickens to the county.
The police wrote on his report at the end of the day that the county had gotten “money for mutton and the chicks for free.”
Sorry...that was awful...

What's the difference between trussing one and carrying in the back of a pickup and putting it in the trunk? It's a farm animal, not a pet.
Cruelty to animals is burning puppies or gut-shooting cats. Or starving an animal. Transporting an animal is not cruelty.
