That youre comprehension of the written word is sorely lacking? Obviously, my comprehension of the written word exceeds yours, as there is no admission of murder mentioned.

What are ya, a lawyer trying to get the guy off on a manslaughter charge? Try reading the second sentence of the story over and over, aloud, if necessary.

OK...me and the DA that charged Paco with two counts of murder don’t know what we’re talking about. Happy?

What do we have to do to bring back a meaningful death penalty?
Honestly, if a dog pulled half the crap we hear about daily, nobody in their right mind would have a problem with running it through the wood chipper...
And that’s a dog who doesn’t know right from wrong.
Prayers for her family!

Mexico has no say... at this point. However, IF the perp fled to Mexico, they would not extradite him back to U.S. if he were to be facing the death penalty. That’s probably one reason, in addition to the two lives he took, for the $2 million bond.

Self-defense is the only out I see for the guy. And somehow, I doubt it was. There's "killed" and "murdered." Two very different things, I'll grant.
I think he's just stirring the proverbial s#it.

It's true that there aren't any official controls Mexico has over U.S. law, however as it's apparent you haven't read what I've been reading you don't know that unofficially the U.S. legal system has been recognizing Mexico's demands against the death penalty since at least that last major incident in Texas a number of years ago.
Illegal Mexican murderer's are getting away with murder, and that was my cynical post.

Again! The above is from the story. Tell us what part of the statement you do not understand. I understand it perfectly well. And what do you not understand about there being no admission of murder in the story?
The story says he was charged with murder, but not that he admitted to murdering her.

He admitted to killing her. He has not claimed self-defense or an accidental killing, that we know of. If you’re quibbling over the differnce between killing and murder, fine. I suspect that Paco doesn’t understand enough English to know the difference.

He admitted to killing her. He has not claimed self-defense or an accidental killing, that we know of. Neither did it say that he admitted it was not self-defense or accidential.
Remember, my reply was to Svartalfiar, who had questioning his "not guilty" plea, based on saying he had admitted murder. I said that he hadn't admitted murder. (Therefore, there's no contradiction.)
If youre quibbling over the differnce between killing and murder, fine.
If you ever have to use lethal force when defending yourself sometime, tell me it's "quibbling."
I suspect that Paco doesnt understand enough English to know the difference.
As long as his lawyer does, it's very relevant. This guy might walk away with manslaughter, for example, whether it was actually murder or not. Can they prove it was murder--and not self-defense after she flipped out at him when he said he was going to ditch her and their kid, as a hypothetical example?

If you ever have to use lethal force when defending yourself...Not yet, knock wood. But I don't think of that as murder. The "not guilty" plea is easily understood, as this is a capital case, and that plea is mandatory in some jurisdictions. And this being California, anything can happen with a jury.
