AKRON, Ohio -- Talk about your symbolism.
Struggling yet again, Tiger Woods blew his drive on his final hole of the day deep into the gallery and the trees, punched out short of the green and found that his ball had come to rest near a large metal sewer grate.
It is somewhat sad. I thought he is arrogant, a club thrower and acted badly but I did not dislike him. I disliked his fans and the media’s hype of him.
Also the lib sports media dumping on the supporting cast of “white guys” and the media and fans focusing their biggest ire and contempt mainly at Phil Mickelson. The media has always been Tiger this and that while the other guys are nobodies.
I also would like to get to the bottom of the possible perfromance enhancing drugs and the PGA’s possible collusion because the money was just too good.
Just kidding. I have pretty much given up on the golf game and more concerned about my soul. ;-)
lol - sorry i missed your humor.
Since Tiger only does white women, does that make him a racist?
Interesting. Thanks for posting. Go Phil!
The term ‘roid rage’ comes to mind. Some steroids can be very powerful and can influence the mind and personality. Talk to some ladies whose husbands or suitors have been on them. Nothing we take into our bodies is absolutely benign is it?
Yet in his role as sports God, he must continue to perform in the most public arena imaginable...The modern day professional golf tournament, where the flinch of every muscle is photographed measured and recorded. Under that spotlight he will try to not let us know his inner struggles.
In his personal life anonymity is lost. Every friend or acquaintance has to be suspect, a possible gold digger; future tell-all entrepreneur; or self engrandising-hanger-on. Who is real...he must be asking himself. Who can he trust.
The Tiger Woods Story has been going on in front of our eyes for his entire life. It is the ultimate reality show. Once it was just his golf game. Now it is his entire life.
golf just started testing for steroids. hmmm
Interesting post. Regarding your last sentence; Phil was playing with young Rory McIlroy on Thursday and I think today. They both said they enjoy playing together as they chat through the round.
They asked Phil about the young talent and how did it compare versus when he was their age. I forget the exact words but Phil said their ball striking is much better and extraordinary.
Tiger on Thursday was about 290 yards off the tee and was hitting an abysmal 36% of the fairways. Almost all the youngsters including smaller Rory are in the 305 yard area.
Phil has been working a lot and got an eased up driver (shorter and heavier shaft) and was pounding them 310 yards.
I think the PGA is now in three groups for driving:
Shorter guys who are accurate - Furyk, Guidos, Pavin, Gay and a few others. 260 to 280 yards.
Middle guys: 280 to 292 yards. Steve Stricker, Mahan.
Guys who crush it: 300 to 313 avg.
Lots of good guys are here now like Phil, Rory, O’Hair, Watney, Watson, Quiros, Dustin Johnson, Padraig, Casey and others.
Tiger is a middle guy now. He used to be long. Did that change due to the knee, swing or getting off HGH/ROIDs?
They started a week after he left golf for about 9 months to have his knee worked on after he beat Rocco at the US Open in 2008. Coincidence?
I think the turning point came for Tiger when he had to fire Barry Bonds as his swing coach.
Please don’t use that reference about Jesus (despised and rejected of men) for Tiger.
Jesus was without any sin. Lived a completely holy life. That’s why He was despised and rejected by the world.
Also those described by the Apostle Paul, ... “and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
I suspect you’re right....
I assure you I mean no disrespect by the analogy, which is often made whenever someone is raised to great heights, then cast down. It’s food for thought.
Hey Frantzie,
If ya don’t think steroids and hgh jacks em up then why are baseballs hitters about 50 points below their hitting averages?
Cause ..b.b finally got serious about the juice.
BINGO!!!
Good question. Most of the buys in BB who got caugh jucin where gone after they were caught. Jason Giambi stayed. Oddly this year he is batting .278 which is pretty good but he has had only 4 HR. His career HR are 412 which is a lot.
I think without HGH and steroids that home run production plummets. I know some guy who works for a company who was a pitcher and just got out of MBL. He claims that juicing and steroids are still in baseball. I think A-ROD is someone who is still juicin.
After seeing how the baseball guys were supermen on steroids - I am sure Tiger was and may still be using PEDs (drugs/hgh/steroids). He worked with the best doctor in the business.
I’m sure you didn’t mean harm. I’ve never heard that scripture used to refer to just anyone raised to great heights then cast down. It’s always the sacred description of Jesus, and the suffering He went through daily while on this earth—despised and rejected of men.
Maybe you’re thinking of the scripture, he that exalts himself shall be humbled...
That one would apply to such a situation you mentioned.
I am reading a thread on Golf WRX and they are talking about Phil Mickelson. Most of the guys who post there are good amateur players. They are talking about how long Phil Mickelson hits his irons.
They are raving about how long he is. When Phil was younger and up to two years ago he was more roly poly but a big guy at 6’4”. They said due to fitness, core and strength training he is more like a linebacker now.
One guy said the other day Phil hit an 8 iron 181 yards on a par 3 to 10 feet to the hole. Guys talking how he hits his iron shots so high they can drop right on the green and stop.
Another who was at a tourney 30 feet from Phil and said he hit a 2 iron 268 yards. Phil is crazy long.
I wonder mentally if Tiger is also watching Phil getting better and stronger as he has gotten older.
