Our local supermarkets had sweet corn from Pearsall, Tx, FL and maybe CO 5-6 ears $1. Our local crop has been gone for sometime now. Just this past week NW of Houston I was looking at fields of corn that was burnt up. Not even fit for grinding for cow feed.

It's just now being harvested Mr. Impatient! My local home grown source just put up a sign this past week saying his corn will become available today, Sunday 7/25/10.

And no Mr. Impatient, I'm not telling you where he's located! So there!

Sweet Corn is NOT the type used in ethanol production.

Yes, but the more of the used to grow sweet corn is now being used to grow ethanol corn.

It’s a bad season down here.

As I said its 50c an ear IF you can find it and then its field corn.

I got my butt whooped at 5 for picking field corn for the family dinner. Thats for the pigs

I got some at Walmart in Ellsworth for 19 cents an ear and it turned out to be feed corn. Sweet corn pops as high as 50 cents an ear but goes on sale for 20 cents every now and then, which is when I buy it.

Sw Ohio!! It came record breaking early and is fantastic and abundant $3/doz (ditto for melons) and cheaper if you pick it yourself. We are about to hit our stride for tomatoes.
