Don't donate to wikipedia and here's why.
Yep one I personally ran across was an opinion statement in Tom Clancy's wiki entry under the "political views" section. Paraphrased it said "Clancy conveniently forgets 9/11 in most of his books"
I thought that was a neat trick given all but two of his books were written before 2001.
It's not so much artificial as it is self-referential. Items near the top of the search directory are more likely to be linked to, and those linked to will be higher on the Google directory. The pages that rise to the top all seem to feature a bland conformity one with another; which is why I've noticed Google to be becoming less and less helpful of a search tool as the years go by.
Like the thought ever once crossed my mind.
