SNIPPET: "The colonel, Richard Henry Meinertzhagen, served as an advisor at the War Office in London and knew Jabotinsky from his service in the British army in the Land of Israel after the Ottoman era in 1918.
The colonel documented his conversation with the Zionist leader in his private diary, which was published in London in 1959 as a book titled, "Middle East Diary, 1917-1956." Here is a short segment from the conversation:
Jabotinsky: I have brought a plan to bomb Hitler and the entire Nazi leadership.
Meinertzhagen: An ambitious plot.
Jabotinsky: An attainable one.
Meinertzhagen: Do elaborate.
Jabotinsky: A number of high-ranking Nazis in Munich must be assassinated. Their funeral will require the arrival of their senior comrades, including Hitler. Bombs containing 100 kilograms of explosives will be concealed in one of the coffins. As all the Nazis gather around the grave, 100 kilograms of bombs will explode and they'll all move on to the next world.
Meinertzhagen: Who will activatethe bomb system?
Jabotinsky: The Jewish gravedigger in Munich. He's a friend of mine.
The colonel, who was impressed by the plan, presented it to the Foreign Office in London. He concluded this chapter in one short line in his diary:
The Foreign Office frowned and the Nazis were saved."

“THE FOREIGN OFFICE FROWNED AND THE NAZIS WERE SAVED.”
I say old chap! Not very sporting of you!
Gosh, it’s almost as if the British gov’t *wanted* to avoid opening a second front in Europe, and the Soviet Union to have to continue to struggle on, losing lives.
Thanks Cindy.
But the details of this Hitler assassination plot seem unrealistic, simply because there in all likelihood wouldn't be a Jewish gravedigger in Munich by late 1939. He would have left Germany by then, would have been rounded up and sent to a concentration camp, would have been killed, or would have been in hiding. It is unlikely that he could have faked being a non-Jew and gotten the job.
Jabotinsky says: “He’s a friend of mine.” It’s unlikely, but possible, and if Zev actually says that there was, we have to give that some credence. In 1939, the final solution wasn’t even close to being consummated.

My grandparents left Berlin coincidentally on the day of Kristalnacht (Nov 38, My father was in his third year of school abroad by that time). The members of my family who didn't leave Berlin were rounded up during the winter of 42-43.

I’m far from expert but I don’t see that it is so implausible -— Nazi records were imperfect, such a “Jewish grave digger” might have been in the job for many years and so not have been scrutinized during the Nazi era, and/or might have had only “part-Jewish” ancestry that the Nazis were not aware of, a grave digger was probably one of the last people they were focused upon in their “Aryan purity” campaign.....
Have you heard of the book “The Nazi Officer’s Wife”?? apparently a Jewish woman from Vienna managed to live through all of the war in Munich married to a German officer (”hiding in plain sight”)..... not saying it happened often but there may have been isolated cases based upon lost or altered documents....??
Nazi records may have been imperfect (no government records can be), but they prioritized the rooting out of Jews from German society and engaged in it with such sadistic intensity that the existence of even a single Jewish gravedigger in Munich by the outbreak of WWII seems as likely as snow in Hawaii on the Fourth of July.
*Please note: I may study the Bible new and Tanakh but NOT a pro, these are my interpolations, no one elses and always subject tochange and improvement)*
I’m highly skeptical. By 1939 Jews would have been ferreted out, heck, most Jews healthy enough to dig graves would have left Germany. Though likely stuck in Europe. Enchante could be correct that this was an individual with Jewish heritage who wasn’t “visible” as a Jew, but in that instance how would Jabotinsky, who had no ties (or travels) to Germany, and was likely in eastern Europe at the time, be so deeply involved to be recruiting a German gravedigger in a plot at that relatively late time of German persecution of Jews. As Enchante notes correctly, there were persons of Jewish heritage, and Jews, who made it through the war, but not by involving themselves in plots of this nature. More important, Jabotinsky was a pretty smart guy. The idea of preceding an assassination attempt on Hitler with the murder of multiple high ranking Nazis, so you can get him at the funeral, I’m thinking came from the British officer’s gin, not Jabotinsky.
Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel by Bill Koenig
What do these major record-setting events have in common?
The ten costliest insurance events in U.S. history The twelve costliest hurricanes in U.S. history Three of the four largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history The two largest terrorism events in U.S. history
All of these major catastrophes and many others occurred or began on the very same day or within 24-hours of U.S. presidents Bush, Clinton and Bush applying pressure on Israel to trade her land for promises of “peace and security,” sponsoring major “land for peace” meetings, making major public statements pertaining to Israels covenant land and /or calling for a Palestinian state.
Are each one of these major record-setting events just a coincidence or awe-inspiring signs that God is actively involved in the affairs of Israel?
In this book, Bill Koenig provides undeniable facts and conclusive evidence showing that indeed the leaders of the United States and the world are on a collision course with God over Israels covenant land.
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem” (Zechariah 12:9)
Jabotinsky was a hero, but I don’t believe he had any such plans.
I was going to bring that book up - although I didn’t read the book I saw the documentary that was made about it. FASCINATING story, and definitely a view from inside Austria & Germany during the war that’s unique. I highly recommend the documentary - and I can only imagine the book is even more interesting.
