Glad you all got to watch the fireworks from afar and that there were no fires (illegals setting off illegal fireworks! Kind of ironic?) Know what you mean about the dogs. I too have had some that couldn’t stop shaking on July 4th and some were never bothered by the noise. Go figure! Glad the radios helped at least. I took one of my dogs to a St.Patrick’s Day parade one year. Dressed her in a green sweater and hat! LOL! She looked real cute and she was doing fine till the sound of guns rang. Shake, shake,shake-shake your booties!!!! She did survive :)

A few years ago, our chow ran away on the 4th. We had left her alone while we went to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. She jumped the fence. We looked and looked that night. Looked again the next day ..... no Saja. She came home two days later. She was the worse that I’ve seen.

When Dove Hunting season would start, we would bring her in the house. If we left, if she was inside, she would tear things up trying to get out. If she were outside, she would try to remove the door to get inside. She tore the door frame from around the door into the garage. Great dog but she was scared to death of guns. Just the sight of a gun would start her shaking.

I wonder why some are afraid of the guns and others are not.

LOL

You would have needed to arrive very early. Marissa knows whenever we have sweets in the house. She is then a very early riser. LOL

They just showed the animal shelter on T.V. Alot of dogs bolted from last nights fireworks in Phoenix.
First Saja wanted in, then she wanted out! Bless her heart! I’m scared of guns, too!

You will love these James Madison quotes. The last one is the best.

http://www.juntosociety.com/uspresidents/jmadison.html

Quotations

“I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.”

-James Madison

We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

- James Madison

“Americans need never fear their government because of the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation.”

-James Madison

We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind of self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.

- James Madison

Something Better
July 6, 2010

Abel doesn’t seem to fit in the first half of Hebrews 11. He’s the first “ancient” listed, but his story isn’t like the others mentioned there. Enoch went to heaven without dying. Noah saved mankind. Abraham started a people group. Isaac was a noted patriarch. Joseph rose to the top in Egypt. Moses led the greatest exodus ever.

Clearly, their faith was rewarded. By faith, they did what God asked, and He poured out blessings on them. They saw God’s promises fulfilled before their eyes.

But Abel? The second son of Adam and Eve had faith, and what did he get for it? Murdered. That sounds more like the folks in verses 35-38, who found that trusting God doesn’t always lead to immediate blessing. They faced “mockings,” “imprisonment,” and being “sawn in two.” “Thanks, but no thanks,” we might say. We would all prefer to be heroic Abraham instead of someone “destitute, afflicted, tormented” (v.37). Yet in God’s plan, there are no guarantees of ease and fame even for the devout.

While we might experience some blessings in this life, we may also have to wait until “something better” (v.40) comes along—the completion of God’s promises in Glory. Until then, let’s keep living “by faith.”

Press on in your service for Jesus,
Spurred on by your love for the Lord;
He promised that if you are faithful,
One day you’ll receive your reward. —Fasick

What is done for Christ right now will be rewarded in eternity.

Read: Heb. 11:4-7,32-40

All these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise. —Hebrews 11:39
