SNIP . . .
The deputy believed he would be assaulted and shot two barbs into Bergin's chest. Bergin pulled both out and proceeded toward the deputy, Chamberlain said.. . .AND
SNIP . . . No one was cited for indecent exposure and the homeowner agreed to turn the music down.

This could never happen in a ‘progressive’ city like San Francisco! You even have the right to crap in people’s doorways there.

I had to read this twice. I swear I read it as....
Bergin pulled out and proceeded toward the deputy, Chamberlain said.
And in a very real sense... I'm sure he did!

I can easily cobble together a somewhat portable backpack sized device that would fire not a pair of barbs but hundreds, and all of these are connected to Dewalt power tool type of battery packs, inverted up and amped up.
Like an anti personnel high voltage shotgun. Can be a one shot cube dropped at a location with a proximity sensor or remotely operated by video camera.
American ingenuity will know no limits to pursue freedom.
I can understand the reality of a less lethal form of device that is needed to apprehend wrong doers, but in America who is becoming too dependent on its use too much, and in too many controversial ways? Whats next, sick sticks?
Sound wave shotguns like in Minority Report?
