Good morning gardeners! If you are a gardener or you are just starting out and are in need of advice or just encouragement please feel free to join in and enjoy the friendly discussion. Our Freeper community is full of gardeners, each with varying interests and skill levels from Master Gardener to novice.
If you have a question about gardening or just an observation to share please feel free to stop by and participate. Paraphrasing Freeper fanfan -There are no stupid questions, just honest ones.
The next sound you hear will be a gun shot as the late Mr Bender gives up due to to many choices for Photo hosting. With that many sites a guy (gal) could store millions and millions of photos and never pay a dime, just don’t lose your booklet with your passwords in it...
Now, tell me what kind of custom cars strike your fancy, please sir. I knew that your were a church going gardener, watching NASCAR after church, now....custom cars, too :) Could be we are kin?
We’re all Kin RD...
Clap your hands! Stomp your feet! Shout out loud! Last time I went to see a bit of the show, the fans went crazy...fun!
Of Course I’m a bit bias....
Well, it wasn’t as horrible as I had feared. The usual questions about Anthracnose on Maple trees and the usual host of fungal problems on shrubs in a cool, wet spring. Welcome to Wisconsin! Lived here long? LOL!
People! Just let it warm up and dry out. The problem goes away on its own. It’s MAY 22nd! Or, spend $20 with me for a fungicide if you JUST can’t stand it, LOL!
A lot of men showing up in tears (just kidding!) with Creeping Charlie in their precious lawns...
OMG! And the people showing up with a handfull of weeds today! “Is this something I should keep?”
99% of the time? “Let me show you where we keep the Round-Up,” LOL!
With my constant whining, I'll eventually break her down... :)
I like those....Do they come in any other pattern? (and in small sizes)
You betcha! I’ll add a sign to the bin when Bare Root rolls around again next season. :)
However, people have a hard time telling the difference between a BlackBERRY and a Black RASPberry. And you never want to plant your Black RASPBERRIES by your Red RASPBERRIES; never the twain shall meet!
I’ll always have a job...there’s just too many people out there that need ‘schoolin’ on this stuff. ;)
Hello! They have them at SEARS of all places; Fishin’ Chix Boots!
Some patterns go to Size 11!!

I know you carry the ones with the Roush Ford logo but what about Jimmy Johnson and the #48 car?
OK. You lost me. But I know enough to know what you mean, even though I don’t ‘do’ NASCAR...but I have friends that DO and I love them dearly. *Shout Out to Doug & Melissa* :)
I just never know what they’re talking about; it’s a secret language or something, LOL!
My Mom X-Rayed Matt Kenseth when he broke his arm. That’s my closest brush with NASCAR fame. :)
That’s neat Di! Did you know that Clusty search shows 5,380,000 hits for painted box turtle?
36 more seed potatoes put in today (in addition to 96 yesterday); basil, stevia, and cumin potted up into their permanent homes; magnolias planted everywhere...more flowers here and there...another fifty larger tomatoes potted up; another cell of twenty tomato seedlings potted up...squash, cucumbers, and pumpkins poking thru the soil...sweet potatoes going in tomorrow, several cells of dense planted early jalapenos getting new homes...maybe some ice cream late in the day.
We kept them as kids. Well, we kept them alive for a while anyway, LOL! You could buy them at the ‘Ben Franklin 5 & Dime.’
I miss that store. :)
This must be Karma finally coming around for all the turtles lost under my care as a kid. ;)
I wear a five or five and a half...Looks like I’ll have to go in and try a pair on. Sometimes six works with socks.
How do the turtles survive through the winter?
Octagenarian gentleman stopped by today. His family had owned the farm (the barn which is my house) a hundred years ago....Told me alot about the “homestead”, stories about the black snake that live(s)d in the corncrib, and about the two room log cabin, his dad had added rooms to, that burned shortly after his dad died....
It was a very pleasant visit...Glad he saw dad out sitting on the porch and stopped by.
Oh, that just makes me sick. I hope he’s OK. The kids around here all drink too much and so many of them die — especially in the spring with Prom and Graduation.
My oldest Grandson is going to his Prom this year in NY (near Albany). My daughter has spent the last 2 weeks getting her yard ready because she’s having the Pre-Prom and pictures at her house. (10 guests). Then the limo (rented by the parents) will pick them up and take them all to the Prom. The kids all had to sign a contract (furnished by the limo driver) no drinking and no smoking — no going anywhere else besides the Prom in Saratoga Springs. Then they will be picked up and brought back to another house where the parents and a couple of other people will ride herd on them all night. Boys will sleep in the basement and girls on 3rd floor. Parents will be patrolling the in between floor to make sure everyone stays where they are supposed to.
My daughter has already reserved the same limo and driver for next year. Same plan. God help these parents and these kids. One more year and they’ll be off to college and nobody will be in control, except for themselves.
We just learned yesterday that a young man who was a bus boy at a restaurant where we eat was killed last month after a house party. He was driving drunk — .11 something — and was hit by another drunk driver whose blood alchohol was .2 something. The kid (sister in car, also hurt) was ejected because he wasn’t wearing his seat belt. He was hit March 12 and died April 30. They are having a fund-raiser at the restaurant where he worked for the family to help defray the hospital bills.
Such a waste.
She is so cute (turtle). I wouldn’t scream and run, if I encountered her in my flowerbed. I get a lot of toads here. I have no idea where they come from or where they go. When we had the pool they would get into the water and get sucked into the filter. That always sent me screaming. But, I don’t mind them in the flower bed. THey are so tiny when I first see them, and they grow so fast — from the size of a nickel to as big as my hand in a couple of weeks.
