Prayers up for all those who may be in harm’s way today...

This spring has been strange up here in Northern Wisconsin. We FINALLY got a LITTLE rain last night, but it’s been really dry... AND, we’ve had NOT ONE THUNDERSTORM YET - and it’s already the end of April!!! Not ONE! No thunder, no lightning, no rain — all of which are usually pretty plentiful up here this time of the year...

Anyone know why that is? Has there been a change in the Jet Stream, or could it possibly be due to the volcano screwing up the weather already??? It just strikes me as rather odd...

We may get some thunderstorms out of that system, but nothing like what is predicted in the south.

Everyone, stay safe!!!

I should have added that the sky is pretty gray today though — thick cloud cover... Off to check my local weather forecast...

Perhaps because (or for the same reason) we have YET to have a hot day in Georgia. We had a C O L D winter by our standards, a late Spring, and a cool one so far.

perhaps all related.

We had our first true Thunderstorm of the Spring about 0530 today. Weird for us as well. Usually we get covered up with Spring-time boomers starting in late March. Nada this year. We had overnight lows in the mid 40s earlier this week. THAT is odd for us.

Tornado sirene just went off here in Meridian, Miss. Could have just been a test - it is off now! KRAP!

Blueflag, you better not jinx us!

I admit the cold winter, but I will be darn if we get a dry hot summer

Why in the heck are they testing during a potential storm?

Yeah that sounds about right for us, too... My daughters have a friend who lives in Texas, and I know that it even snowed a few times where they live!

We had a few days where it dipped down to freezing just recently. I remember remarking to my daughter that I was worried because the buds on the trees had just finally started growing.

You’re probably right that it is related... though the cause I don’t know. We’re predicted to get rain today and tomorrow, but no dark cloud or lightning bolt on the forecast pictures! Just rain... Not that I’m complaining! As I said we need it... And especially, the farmers up here need it, too...

That’s probably a really wise decision.

Praying for everyone down there... Have experienced one really close to us (a few blocks away - several years ago), but not a really bad one... Still, the clouds were moving so fast in the sky behind out neighbor’s house that it was just surreal...

Last night around eight the tornado siren went off. Even though the storm was in a far corner of the county they turned on the siren. I really hate those things. Later there was tremendous sheet and cloud to cloud lightning, but nothing severe or tornadic.

This morning between 4:00 and 4:30 a like of storms came through with lots of lightning and thunder. Lots of lightning.

Our winter was very cold and dry. The spring has continued to be very dry, but warmer than normal. In fact we had so little rain during the winter and early spring, I have not had to mow the yard. However, with the rain that passed through I probably will at the end of this week.

It was on for about 10 seconds! The big cell with possible tornado is about 30 miles SW of us moving NE at 55 mph.

There is an El Niño cycle happening this winter. Makes for a milder winter in the upper Midwest. The south gets a lot more moisture than normal.
