NEW YORK -- John Tesh confirms one of the reports in a revealing unauthorized biography of Oprah Winfrey.

The former "Entertainment Tonight" anchor-turned-new age musician says he and Winfrey used to date.

The 57-year-old Tesh says he and the 56-year-old Winfrey dated while working in local news in Nashville, Tenn.

The book "Oprah: A Biography" claims Tesh and Winfrey didn't just date, but lived together for a short period in the 1970's.

It goes on to say Tesh abruptly ended the relationship one night when he noticed their contrasting skin colors and couldn't handle being in an interracial relationship.

It was an unauthorized biography, I don’t think Oprah had any say in the matter, and all Tesh did was admit he was seeing her. I don’t think he was quoted directly in the book, just asked to confirm what was written, which he did.

Yes I suppose up until then he was trying to live the MLK dream of "judging by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin". When he discovered the content of this character it was all over.

I was reading along when my mind hit the irrationality of that sentence so hard my vision blurred! I had to go back and read the sentence more slowly to see if I had read it correctly, and then check to see if it was a part of the story or a side comment.

I could have saved myself the surprise had I known that Kitty Kelley had written the book.

The fine Discover series, “Life,” was nearly spoiled for me by Oprah’s narration.

And I thought it was just me.

The nonchalant inflection in her voice at times when it shouldn't be so is perplexing.
