HP’s Slate Device Delivers a Holistic Mobile Experience

Up to now, we’ve given you only tiny glimpses of the HP slate device coming out later this year. You saw it first in a video we released during CES and most recently in videos demoing its Web experience and Adobe Flash and Air support. We’ve also blogged about the evolution of the slate category and our history in the space.

So far, almost everything we’ve shared showcases how you’ll consume media with the device. And by media we mean all types of digital content, whether it’s a story from a major news outlet or videos and photos you’ve shot. But we also believe that media consumption is only half of the ideal mobile experience.

Think about the last time you chatted with friends over Skype on your notebook. Or uploaded a picture from your mobile phone to Facebook or Flickr. How about the last time you viewed images or video from an SD card or a USB device. We know that you expect to be able to capture and share digital content on your mobile devices. And the HP slate device excels there.

Take a look at our newest video. As you’ll see, we’re putting a lot of thought into the design to make sure we deliver an optimal mobile experience.

I don’t give a flip about either one of ‘em.

But from what I hear, the iPad having no USB port is a deal breaker.

Steve says you don’t need USB.
Steve says you don’t need an SD card slot.
Steve says you don’t need a camera.
Steve says you don’t need another OS.
Steve says you don’t need to multitask.

Please don’t ruin Steve’s hard work to deliver the Apple experience to you.

Steve says we scored a trifecta of cover stories on Newsweek, Time and the WaPo, just like 0bama did.
Steve says so therefore we win election.

I can see the adverts now.

I’m a PC - I can do Flash

I’m a Mac - I’m a giant Phone

::::::
Apple has never really been successful in the latter days of the PC industry. Steve never thought you had to cater to the desires of the customer base — only his narrow “apple proprietary” dictatorship that fashioned a number of failed products that only cater to a narrow base of users.

His iPad is a joke. Overpriced, under-equipped, a joke of a CPU that should have been something akin to the Intel Atom to permit other OS’s. Totally pathetic I/O for user interface. And made as proprietary as Steve could to lock the Apple-Bots into buying lots of overpriced Apple peripheral support.

HP will easily kick Apples’ butt in this horserace, with only a little smart marketing and design.

Is this slate still based on Windows 7? If so, remember to include viruses and malware that will come with simply using the product.

Does it have a tiny little physical keyboard too?

I think a tablet computer should support a stylus. What's a tablet without a stylus? And wires. Lots of wires. For peripherals and stuff. /s

Windows 7 is more secure than Snow Leopard.

The iPad does not run flash but I’ll buy one anyway. I’ll probably buy a HP Slate too. Why? Because I can:)

I’ve got a whole stash of those things somewhere gathering dust! The IBM Displaywriter bit the dust a few years ago. Sad to see it go. :^(

Oh yeah... Well my HP 9000 200 meg disk pack is bigger than yours! I had one, when I managed the College of Business, that when anyone on the system did a KSAM sort the thing would walk across the floor like an out of balance washing machine. I fixed it by hiring a teaching assistant whose job was to sit on the disc pack when the classes started doing sorts. That and he was supposed to watch when the AC froze up and started spitting ice out of the vents. He was supposed to cover the disc packs with garbage bags... Ahhh that was the life.
