Administration: "Travel papers" to combat illegal aliens an idea worth considering

(Washington, D.C. 3/23/10) After their victory in health care reform, the administration is now considering the issuance of "Travel Papers" to American citizens in an effort to combat illegal aliens.

The source gave these details.

"This is an idea whose time has come. Americans would have to have government authorization to travel by air, car or boat. In essence, we'd want to know where they live, how they will travel, who they will see and where they will stay. This government service would only be available to American citizens which would give them the freedom to go where they want."

"Since illegal aliens aren't citizens, they will have no papers to produce at state lines or international boundaries. This limits their potential for transient movement and would hopefully convince them to return to their countries of origin."

Amazing how many FReepers support the idea. I mean a very significant percentage.

How about if we assume everyone who can speak English without a heavy accent is a native and require the others to carry papers?

This is a joke, right?

Yes, there's a couple of people who routinely post this kind of lame, unfunny "satire" here. I hate to pee in their cornflakes but they just don't have the talent to pull it off.

I know this is satire. What I find disturbing is how easily, in today’s climate, this could be an actual diktat from the bolsheviks in D.C.

.
Chips. Computer chips under the skin.

That would work a lot better. No chip — no travel.

“”Since illegal aliens aren’t citizens, they will have no papers to produce at state lines or international boundaries. This limits their potential for transient movement and would hopefully convince them to return to their countries of origin.””

BS. Illegal aliens will have their ‘papers’ the same way they get everything else...lie, cheat, steal....while you and I will be waiting on the government to get around to issuing ours.

“Why? What’s the difference between this and Romney’s/Guillianni’s national ID card idea? Not much. When you’ve got Republicans proposing something, why be surprised the Democrats propose the same thing and “take it just a little bit further.”

Actually it is REPUBLICAN Lindsey Graham who is pushing the ID thing for ALL of us to be able to work in the USA.

Why don’t they just skip all these baby steps and put GPS microchips in all of us?

My buddy Marco De'Beast invented one that would be perfect for implanting!

Unconstitutional and, BTW, we have the freedom to go where we want now. Can you say "Nazi Germany 1933"?

OK, I fell for it, this is satire. It is a sad day when something like this can be said and believed.

“If you go for your drivers license you will now need:

Marriage Certificate
Bith certificate
Social Security card
Two bills to prove your residence”

In Oklahoma, that is only true if you let your DL expire before trying to renew it. My wife and I both had to renew ours last year, and the current, unexpired, but soon to expire DL was all we needed. (and finger prints and photograph sans glasses, which we both need to drive.)

Not any more I understand this has begun this year...and it’s nationwide. Might want to check and see. I think this is part of getting all states on the same page.
