To Those Who Insist On Ideological Purity: Thanks for ObamaCare (Vanity)
Jim Davis

Posted on 03/23/2010 4:38:26 AM PDT by Philo1962

This is an open letter to those who refused to go out and vote for a RINO on Election Day 2008. You have just given us ObamaCare, which (if it is not stopped) will bankrupt America.

The final House vote tally was 219-211. All of the Republicans in the House of Representatives ― all of them, every last one of them, including all of the RINOs ― voted against this bill. In the Senate, John McCain (another RINO you refused to support in droves) is one of ObamaCare's most vigorous opponents. And all of the Republicans in the Senate ― all of them, every last one of them, including all of the RINOs ― voted against this bill. This confirms what I've been saying all along: that ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.

If we had won just four more House races in 2008, the final vote would have been 215-215 and the bill would have failed, despite the last-minute stab in the back by Bart Stupak and eight other Blue Dog Democrats.

In 2008, the ten closest House races were decided by an average margin of only 680 votes. For example, in VA-5 Democrat Tom Perriello defeated Republican Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. by only 745 votes. This means that if 2,730 more Republican votes had been tallied in four of these districts in 2008, ObamaCare would have failed in 2010.

And if he had been elected president, John McCain never would have signed this bill.

I'm not saying that we should support RINOs in the primaries. Every effort should be made in the primaries to nominate genuine conservative candidates, with true conservative positions on the issues. But once the die is cast in the primaries, and we're stuck with a RINO nominee, we need to go out and get that RINO elected. We need to donate to his campaign, man phone banks for him, hand out yard signs and bumper stickers for him, and walk the precincts for him.

Because as we have just been reminded, in a way that's too loud and too painful to ignore, ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.

I will be supporting Mark Kirk for United States Senate here in Illinois for this reason.

First, No I do not want to be on this ping list.
Second, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
I didn’t vote for McCain in the last election, I voted for Sarah Palin!

And you think there is purity in politics, will waste your vote and make Dick Durbin the Senate majority leader? Looking for purity in a politicians is like searching for the Philosophers Stone. Try reading Sun Tzu or Clausewitz, instead of the kamikaze strategy you intend to employ. By your strategy once America is reduced to a third world status, economically destroyed for generations (like CA)Americans will then wake up and vote pure conservative. Of course the middle class will have become a dependent class and the health care system will be destroyed and business will have moved off shore to tax havens. But hey, pure conservatives can run whatever is left. I have heard this drivel before, it won’t work, and it is not worth discussing.

I have voted for (some) rinos in the past and will do so in the future. But the illogic of this article makes it fatally flawed.

The #1 reason Obama and Dems won and is able to make things worse has zero to do with McCain and zero to do with the anti-McCain conservatives.

The Bush administration set a big government, central planning direction in both foreign and domestic policy. it was precisely the rino-ness of the Bush&Co that made the Republicans weak. I include in Bush&Co Karl Rove who actively supported corruption by his close friend, the National GOP treasurer, and the corrutption of Hastert&Co.

Furthermore, apart from the anti-Bush&Co mood of the country that had zero to do with both McCain and the anti-McCainites, the seond biggest factor in Obama winning was PTA monms (and metro-sexual dads) not wanting to appear racist. The undertone of the Obama campaign (to which the anti-Rev Wright voices became useful idiots) was that to be against Obama was to be racist. Thus Obama is our first affirmative action president.

Third, the next most significant factor in the McCain loss was McCain looking like a total jerk to suspend his campaign and rush back to Washington to support the bailout that the American people opposed. That McCain stupidity did not change a single mind of a principled conservative. But it was a major factor in changing the minds of moderates and the non-ideological who thought Obama’s stupidity can’t be any worse than that of McCain.

The anti-McCainite conservatives had already decided against McCain prior to that. The deciding moment for the anti-McCaionites was the selection of Palin. McCain-Palin was still in ascendancy, winning both the center and the right ... until McCain self-destructed on the bailout.

As opposed to you? What are you some kind of political Magi. You have placed yourself and your opinion above all others. Your arrogance is breathtaking.

I just hope people will take a long hard look at their state legislators because that’s where Soros seems to have be having the greatest success.

Having a civil relationship with the UAW is a simple political reality of Michigan but the republicans who are on the leash of the SEIU and teachers unions are a threat that needs to be eliminated. Many of them will aspire to US house and senate seats in the future and they’ll be a lot harder to take down when they do.

Those who say we should all blindly vote (R) are no better than ACORN who tells people to blindly vote (D).

Since 2006, our problem has not been the RINOS, as bad as they are. Our problem is that we don't even have enough RINOS in the House and Senate to control the Committees and the Rules and Procedures.

The reason we do not have control of the House and Senate Committees, Rules and Procedures, or the White House is because too many people stayed at home, to teach the rest of us a lesson.

This thread, as few posts as it has so far, already contains some fine specimens that demonstrate why Illinois is a one party liberal state.

And several of those specimens have come from you, E.V. (BTW, how many different Conventions/Caucuses/State Party meetings did you and Dr. Keyes attend in 2008, any way? Republican, Conservative, ___, _____, ____ then your own made up Little Party? Guess everyone was all out of step except you two, huh? )

They are not taking it, people like Soro’s are buying it. How else does a mental midget like Obama get in the White House?

Actually I do not blame voters in 2008(We had a choice between going off of the cliff at 65 MPH or 120 MPH). I blame voters in 2006 for giving the TRUE Bitch Nasty Nancy and Dingy Harry the reigns of power.

Who do you think you’re fooling? By your completely unprincipled formulation Barack Obama is supportable.

Because there is no difference ideologically between Mark Kirk and Obama. The only difference in fact is that deceptive little letter next to their name.

Like it matters. The GOP wouldn’t even count our votes. Why bother going to their useless meetings if in the end they won’t count your vote?

As I said this drivel is not worth the brain cells needed to discuss it. This would not even pass for intelligent conversation in the Illinois Public School system. I warned the original blogger that you guys would wake-up have a cup of coffee and go on the attack. It is only interesting for a moment, they the rant gets boring.

A good post. McCain/Palin would not be giving us this crap. And to those who think a third party is the answer; wake up.

You will not find finer people than some of the R's who have been speaking out against this travesty. Put your efforts into supporting them, and others like them.
Don't waste that energy playing around with a third party.

Go back a little farther. There was Mark Foley, and his text messages to 16-year-old boys. There was Dennis Hastert and his refusal to throw Foley out the door earlier. There was the carefully timed leak of the text messages to the press, so that it would do the most damage to Republicans (not Foley, but the Republican Party) in the election, much like the carefully timed leak of Bush's DUI arrest days before the 2000 election.

And of course, there were the DNC speechwriters working in the mainstream media as "journalists," pounding us day after day for three years with anti-war propaganda.

4 of us voted for Dr. Keyes in my Texas County’s primary. We were counted.

But then, Lord help him, Dr. Keyes wasted my vote and nullified his voice forever.

Dr. Keyes left and continues to try to kill the Republican Party. He made sure that my vote was not a wake up call to the Republicans, but instead became worse than a joke: my vote appears to be as disloyal as Dr. Keyes proved to be.

Shame on him and you. It’s not about the two of you. It’s about those of us who are trying to direct the Party with the pro-life platform and potential to change the law to prevent abortions.

One thing is for sure, conservatives are always right.

Strongly agree

They are standing alone because they can’t agree to a like cause. That’s why we get beat every time by libs.

Strongly disagree. We lose because we've not run a conservative since Reagan. When we run (and govern) as conservatives, then we win.

McCain is not a conservative. Romney is not a conservative. Palin is proving herself (via her sellout to support McCain) to be not a conservative either.

National Republican figures (senators etc) and the national Republican party should NEVER support anyone in the primaries. They should let the people decide and then support the people's choice in the general.

This is what cost Rick Santorum his senate seat. He supported Arlen "Scottish Law" Sphincter in the primary against Pat Toomey and the conservatives moved him into the RINO camp. Santorum betrayed us.

Why oh why haven't the rest of the national figures learned this lesson yet?

We are tried of voting for people because they run as republicans and then finding out that they were just democrats in drag.
