Two students at the University of Missouri-Columbia were suspended Wednesday after their arrests in a case of cotton balls thrown across the lawn of the campus black-culture center.
Campus police on Tuesday evening arrested the students, one of whom is from the St. Louis area, on suspicion of a felony hate crime. The two were released on bond, and charges were pending.
The incident happened early Friday at the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center, near the middle of campus. Nathan Stephens, the center's coordinator, said students were offended because of the 'symbolic violence' that harkened to days of slavery on cotton plantations."

Had they been armed with Assault Spitball Straws, this could have sent these kids to prison for life.
These charges are ridiculous.
It is this kind of abuse of our legal system will help to increase racism, NOT stop it.
The dipsh!t “victims” should have tossed white soda crackers all over the white guys yard. Then everybody could have been told to grow up and life could go on.
I’m a retired LEO and it is crap like this that makes me even more please that I am out of it.
Yep. Those cotton balls can kill.
This is exactly the same thing as lynching.
Worse, even.
i’ll hate anyone I damn well please!!!
cotton balls thrown across the lawn
I wonder how far one can throw a cotton ball?
“Thats cruel to the golfers because they would have more difficulty spotting where their balls went.”
Anyone that smashes gopher eggs and then is stupid enough to chase after them needs the extra exercise and frustration!
eating watermelon in a racist manner.
LOL... I might need to know what this special way of eating might be. I don’t want to be sent up river for playing soul music while eating watermelon.
Cantaloupe, is cantaloupe safe to eat?
Heck, I’m starting to think that when in public, it might be safer to eat fried chicken using a knife and fork.
Yes, the Black Culture Center is a hate crime: commandeering money from people of all races, then allocating those funds for the exclusive use by and for and in promotion of color-based racism. Imagine the seething rage unleashed if there were a White Culture Center on campus.
Oh, the cotton balls? dunno what’s up with that. Probably someone opened a bag and they blew around, freak accident. Someone too annoyed to clean up their mess.
Not if its from Taco Bell, apparently they don’t consider that Mexican food.
What about toilet paper, it’s white, and it has always been seen as an honor for some kids home to get TP’d.
If they were liberals, this would be free speech.
hahahahahahahahahaha.
I think that is about the funniest prank I have ever heard, and I play golf. lol
“...these super sensitive people need to get over themselves...The whole hate crime thing is wrong.”
It’s power, and the display of that power. “Wrong” is the wrong way to look at it.
That's a ball you are able to hit far enough to be able to get into your cart and drive to. Otherwise we just walk, ROFL.
How many cotton balls constitute a hate crime..........One, One Hundred or One Thousand?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Now, if BLACK BALLS were scattered about the lawn..........
Would watermelons on the lawn be a hate crime?
Guess I better not tell anybody I had fried chicken for dinner. /s
Fried chicken, dat be a hate crime too?
Cotton balls?...sounds like a hate crime against rag dolls!
Difference between a black Democrat and a black Republican.
Black Democrat: Will call the police and cry about the “hate crime” that occured on their lawn on the 10 o clock news.
Black Republican: Will chase down the dumb punks with the nearest baseball bat and tell the brats to clean up their litter. May be featured on the 10 o clock news for being arrested for simple battery and assault.
