A Kentucky woman was charged with assault after she allegedly squirted breast milk into the face of a deputy, sparking online debate Sunday in the local media.
Toni Tramel, 31, was arrested Thursday for public intoxication in Owensboro, WYMT-TV reported, but it is what she did next which has attracted headlines.
As Tramel changed into an inmate uniform, she squirted a stream of breast milk into the face of the female deputy watching over her.
A press release from the Daviess County, Kentucky, Detention Center, said that after the deputy decontaminated herself from the "bio-hazard", Tramel was charged with third degree assault.
While the public drunkenness was merely a misdemeanor offense, the assault is a felony charge and a US$10,000 bond was set.
Reports of the case have sparked debates about whether using breast milk as a weapon should constitute a felony assault case, with many readers likening it to an accused person spitting on an officer.
Also sparking feedback has been the use of the term "bio-hazard" to describe breast milk.

Milk! It does a copper good!
It was an unusual way for the cop to ask for more cream in his coffee.
The risk is immeasurably small.
Still, would you want to wager against it? That’s the point. She unnecessarily endangered that cop’s life.
I’m assuming you used a farm cow and not the cow in the picture?
C’mere cousin, time to feed the cats again!
If he tased her, would she be full of pudding?
When breasts are outlawed, only outlaws will have breasts.
Prove it.
First there is nothing that indicates she had any communicable disease. Nothing that I've seen anyway. Perhaps something you saw?
Second, even needlesticks with known infected blood rarely transmit HIV, so yeah, I'd take the bet that a squirt of breast milk isn't going to transmit HIV.
Careful at work...
So she’s drunk and breastfeeding.
“But I didn’t shoot the deputy...”
the world is a dangerous place
Well, if you are so confident it did not put the officer at risk, you should be able to demonstrate with your person that you can take a squirt of HIV-laden breast milk on your face, without fear.
Of course. No self-respecting farm boy would lay a hand on the udder of the cow in the picture.
Maybe she was flashing to try to get out of the citation, and it got away from her. Haha.

Was the woman HIV positive?
If not then STFU.
I would bet my life that it is statistically irrelevant, to contract AIDS through anything but blood to blood contact. It may not even be virus caused, the studies simply have not been done. Nobody has injected HIV into healthy humans to see if they develop AIDS? It is unproven, and deaths from AIDS are virtually unheard of in this country, as opposed to when they killed people with AZT. I remember when doctors, dentists and nurses were afraid of working on patients with AIDS. It turns out that Hepatitis in its various forms is much more dangerous and deadly.
A. You don't know if she is.
B. You don't know if she has anything else.
C. You wouldn't want to undergo the same, yourself.
STFU, and GTFO, because my time is too precious to insult you thoroughly.
