Sometimes I wonder if Governor Palin realizes that it's not the media's distortions of her and her family that create such strong reactions against her. It's precisely the most devout haters who do see the real her, and that's what they're afraid of. They hate that she's smart. They hate that she's capable. They hate that she's perfectly qualified to be President.
They hate her becuase she is likeable, and they don't want to like her. Their feelings stem from a combination of fear, envy, inadequacy about their own selves, insecurity in their amoral value system, etc...
So to satisfy their insecurities, many will stay in their alternate universe and continue to believe in a Palin caricature of their own making.
NOTE: Sure there are some reasonable minded people that still have legitimate questions about what kind of leader she'd be, and need more time to decide if they'd consider voting for her. These are not the people I am referring to.
So, when so-called experts presume the idea that Palin is not "electable," it has little to do with any perceived lack of qualifications or abilities, or even her stances on policy. The staunchest detractors are those who are afraid of the good in Sarah Palin, not the flaws.

It sounds petty, but those are precisely the things that initially bother people about Palin.

she lacks gravitas. courting reality shows isn’t gonna get any either. if she can show a shrewd grasp ov worl dvents and their effects, then maybe....
Yep, for sure........There are those with questions about Sarah but they don’t hate her like some FR trolls who never say anything about Obama, the dems or even other conservatives maybe running for President.....all they do is attack her and then when faced with the facts they twist it to put her on a level of scrutiny that no man let alone a women could ever attain without finding fault

Both the left and right have gotten used to the phrase “I’m from the government and I’m hear to help..” followed by their pet issues. People want a government hero to fix the problems- Palin is offering Conservative solutions which is get the government out of your way and you can fix your problems. Ronald Reagan mold.
The delusions and blindness of Palinistas is not only astounding it is scary. I could go on and answer each of your statments one by one but seriously, what’s the use? You live in a crafully contructed dream world and reject out of hand anything that might remotely disturb the fantasy.
All I can say is you’re in for a rude awakening when the tides of reality swamp your shores.

Liberals do this with a lot of things. They are not capable of serious self analysis. They lack the ability of deep, abstract thought. Their solutions are simplistic and often harsh - i.e. Communist/socialist/fascist solution for nearly everything - reeducation and death camps; liberals fear of guns - they fear they themselves can’t control shooting someone, so nobody can; green movement - see all the thousands of cars on the highway! we have to be doing more to impact climate change than the earth or the sun does!
I agree, but more and more people are realizing the common sense behind conservatism. However, you don't see too many other messengers of sanity getting the same treatment Palin does.
What I was trying to get at is, the reactions against Palin are visceral and stem from things that go beyond partisanship. For some, it's petty: people are envious of her good looks and success. For others, it runs deeper than that: people get uncomfortable by the sight of Trig, her Down's Syndrome child. Some, as a result, may feel convicted by their own guilt of having chosen abortion. A lot of the hate expressed toward Palin is personal, rather than political.
Yup that's true too, and that's why the "conservative" members of the establishment feel threatened by her.
As is typical of liberals, they project themselves onto their target. They hate themselves because they can see themselves liking Palin.

it’s been all over the neyworks that she’s shopping a reality show about alaska. and I don’t watch msnbc, i get most of my news from free republic;-)
Palin should be lookign for ways to show that she has the depth to support her stances. Will she make a good prez? probably better than what we got, she’s certainly more qualified, but I haven’t seen the reasoning behind her thought.
You should read her book. You will get a strong sense of the thought processes that inform her beliefs and actions.
