They say when they arrived at the Chicken Hut, they found Verner lying on the ground in front of the restaurant's pick-up window.
He had been shot multiple times, according to Tulsa Police Sergeant Mike Eckert.
They had a difficult time getting through the crowd to provide aid to the victim, and no one was trying to help the injured man, Eckert said. People were instead stepping over Verner to get to their food orders.

so like leg and thigh meat
has anyone seen Bro?
Maybe the food is REALLY REALLY bad...
I guess the author meant the victim was standing by a restaurant when he got killed - which is technically correct, although badly phrased.
Yea it seems to be listed multiple ways:
Patrons ignore man killed by Tulsa restaurant
Associated Press - March 1, 2010 7:55 AM ET
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Police say only one person in a parking lot full of people called 911 after a man was shot to death outside a Tulsa chicken restaurant.
Check again. Maybe you used the original headline; but it’s not the headline there now.
On the “plus” side though, it looks like SOMEBODY has a shorter commute...
I'm here in Tulsa. Yup. It was on the far North side, an area predominately people by attractive and successful African Americans.
Dear God, this is embarrassing.
The owner should have closed the restaurant until the emergency personnel finished their work.
The title said the restaurant killed him. He was shot buy the restaurant?
When restaurants are outlawed, only outlaws will have restaurants!
Was his order cold?.............
“Killed by Tulsa Restaurant”
In favor of your headline, the word “by” can refer to agency, but it can also mean “next to.” He was standing by the Restaurant when he was killed.
And greasy fingers!
Keep pretending?
This may seem a subtle or irrelevent point, but I think print reporters, who make their living with the written word, owe it to us readers to use both accurate and precise language when reporting a news stories.
The second headline is MUCH better.
;-)
I've been to several restaurants that almost killed me. But, it was the food, not gunfire.
Hey, I’d pro’bly be that way over good chocolate, but I can cook better fried chicken than anybody. lmao
Jeebus H. Kerrist...please God, 100 cell phones on the parking lot and one call to the cops...what does that tell you about the people on the parking lot. :)
Sometimes I wish they’d just wall-in North Tulsa and let ‘em kill each other off.
I am aware that there are apathetic people in this country, but I never in my wildest dreams thought I would read about people stepping over a dead body in order to get their chicken. It is surreal. What kind of people are these????
