Why the $15 Billion Jobs Bill?

Posted on 02/27/2010 6:21:13 AM PST by reaganator

We already have the $787 Billion Stimulus Bill which is now going to cost $75 Billion more than anticipated. This is the largest spending bill in the history of mankind.

Since a vast portion of this money has yet to be spent, what is the reason for the $15 Billion Jobs Bill?

Okay, I know they are attacking the American free market capitalistic system and using debt as a weapon, but what is there bogus reason they are presenting to the American public? To pay artificially inflated union wages for road work?

Pelosi: Where Are the Jobs, Mr. President?
August 1, 2003

Washington, D.C. — House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ announcement that 470,000 people abandoned their job searches in July and that 3.2 million private sector jobs have been lost since President Bush took office:

“The fact is that President Bush’s misguided economic policies have failed to create jobs. Since President Bush took office, the country has lost 3.2 million jobs, the worst record since President Hoover. And today we learned that in July nearly half a million people gave up looking for a job.

“Job losses are taking a real toll on the financial security of American families. While Democrats are fighting for opportunity, jobs, and economic security for working families, Republicans continue to focus on helping those who need help the least.

“According to today’s survey, while the national unemployment rate dropped slightly, it still stands at a near record high. In addition, the unemployment rate for African Americans was still over 11 percent in July, and the unemployment rate for Hispanics was 8.2 percent in July.

“It is time for President Bush and the Republicans to get to work for all Americans, not just the elite few.”

A friend told me last week, he was on his third unemployment extension and getting $400 per week. He said he wouldn’t take a job until the government let his unemployment run out.

You pay people not to work, guess what they’ll do!

Or not do.

Good question. I think they’re just trying to pretend that they’re doing something to fix the unemployment problem.

They want 10 billion to extend unemployment benefits and with the NASA cut backs they’re going to cause thousands of people to lose their jobs. New home sales announced to be the lowest in something like 50 or 60 years this week. That means a lot of lost construction jobs.

Coming into office while the nation was slowing toward recession and even after the attacks of 9-11-01, President’s Bush’s tax cuts and economic policies helped spur 50 consecutive months of economic growth, more than 8 million new jobs, real GDP grew by more than 17 percent and after tax per-capita income increased by 12 percent. Then, in 2006, the Democrats regained majority control of both houses of Congress.

Perhaps that's the case with your friend and other younger workers but not so always. My husband was out of work last June, July, and August. He got a new job in manufacturing in September but was let go again at Thanksgiving. He has been on Unemployment since then and he gets about $380 a week. He is 58 years old and not likely to find it easy to get another job soon.

However, he would not consider a job that pays way below what he receives on Unemployment as we are just squeaking by now. I work a part time minimum wage job and have been looking for a full time job for the last year with no success. Right now I'm just grateful for the job I have because it allows me to buy reasonable health insurance.

FWIW, we qualify for food stamps and swallowed our pride and took them. Without them we would have had serious problems meeting our bills as I had major surgery in December. But you would not believe how free and easy they are with giving out those food stamps and your jaws would drop if you knew how much they are giving us. I can't spend all of it in a month.

I just want to make it clear that no matter how much Unemployment and food stamps Ovomit gives us, there is no way in hell either my husband or I will vote for him or any Demoncrap. We would prefer to work rather than collect any amount of "freebies." I feel sure that many others in our situation feel the same way.

The bill has been pared down to the core. The funds will flow into the distribution center and the salaries of those designated as administrators. No funds will flow outward to benefit anyone of the public.

The wealth is being redistributed to the leftists in adequate amounts they will never need do anything after Obama is over.

They will have the money and that is the reason for it all.

If they die, the money will never be spent

“”what is the reason for the $15 Billion Jobs Bill? “”

Because in all matter of things “zeroman” must appear as though he cares and is going to solve the problem!

The extension of unemployment didn’t get through from what I heard on the radio yesterday. They couldn’t figure out a way to pay for it? But they have all kinds of $$$ to pay for everything else? Cut out the partying at the WH for starters. A drop in the bucket? Drops add up!!!!

About 2/3 - I think.

"I'd have trouble explaining to people back home why I voted for it while 63 percent of the stimulus remains unspent," Nelson said Tuesday.
