Hey is Obama photoshopping again. That looks like the Bobcat that is prowling around here in Iron County Michigan. I tell you that must Lynx’s subspecies Bobcat.
Kinda like ford Escort - Mercury Lynx - Interchangeable. To bad Ford did not call the Escort the Bobcat. Opps that is a skidsteer company, name infringement, i may now have the copyright police coming after me. Hold on there is a knock at the back door! See you all it is the feds

Technically all bobcats are Lynx, their species name is Lynx Rufus. Another thing to consider is that Whistler is at the edge of normal NA habitation for the bobcat while Whistler is in the area for normal habitation for the Canadian Lynx or Lynx Canadensis.

There is always one in the group. That is like calling a Blacktail a Mule Deer and saying it is correct because they are both ‘technically’ related and they are both deer. Go tell that to all the state biologists, taxidermists, trappers and fur buyers who spend millions buying Bobcats and Lynx out west. I have trapped professionally in Kansas, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska, and got paid for plenty of both different cats.

I give it a 2.0 for difficulty and a 6.5 for technical ability. This Canadian came out of nowhere and had a successful season and could medal in this competition.

I tend to agree. I have seen lynx in our area and they don’t look like this. This is not a mountain lion either. It looks more like a pint size tiger with a short tail.

All cats purr even the big lions of Africa purr..it’s a kitty thing you know despite size.

If they’re like their cousin the Bobcat you can go a long time without seeing one, and then one of them will decide to walk right up, sit right down and watch you. They are very typical cats, thoroughly independent.

You are right, we have lots of Bobcats in my area and that is definitely a Bobcat. Lynx are bigger for one thing. They are both beautiful animals and closely related(as I am sure you know:)).

Saw a funny video once of a leopard or cheetah purring on a reporting, slobbering in the purring. But, that big cat could purr.
