William Kelly Shoots Daughter's Abusive Boyfriend, Randall Carter, in the Balls

When police in Navarre, Florida received a call for a noise complaint, they arrived to find a bleeding man running toward them along with his girlfriend. The man's groin was dripping blood, and he was screaming that he'd been shot...

Amanda Kelly told a deputy that her dad, William Russell Kelly Jr., had shot her boyfriend Randall Carter at their home. The reason for dad's ire, according to the younger Kelly: "He hates him, dude."

William readily admitted to the shooting, but claims a different motive. He says he unloaded his .45 revolver, which he affectionately calls "The Judge," because Carter was assaulting this daughter. "I shot him in the nuts with bird-shot because he was beating my daughter," Kelly told police.

He's been charged with aggravated battery. Carter, meanwhile, has already received his sentence for messing with an armed man's daughter.

I recently bought two EAA revolvers at a gunshow, a .38 two inch barrel and a .357 in same barrel arrangement. Neither is fancy. They are both black with rubber grips. But they are really fine equipment for the money! The .357 was $279 and the .38 special was $239. I plan on ‘painting’ the front sight on both and using them for carry, loaded with JHP ammo (,357) and HydraShoks (.38 Spcl).

We both would rather beat around the bush?

What’s the story behind that blowup? Did they ever find out what caused it?

Did it do that with every magazine you had or just the one that came with the pistol?

That is a very poorly made firearm. It looks like the barrel cracked right at the frame leaving the forcing cone still screwed into the frame. Repairable. Sort of like replacing a snapped off lawn sprinkler riser. Still, the though of that happening when a round is fired is enough to make you think twice about even buying it in the first place.

It sounds like the magazine release was too short.

Thanks for the reply.

Double action. Look up the Windicator at European American Arms. Made in Germany. Excellent weapons. Have yet to try their semi-autos, but if these revolvers are any indication ...

I figured that too but was disgusted that a new pistol
just off the line would do that. Poor quality control and
probably fired once from a fixed test stand. One manual
shot would have shown it. That’s why I got rid of it

I also started to think the return spring was either not there, broken or the wrong one.

I have had to fix, change or modify every single firearm I shoot on a regular basis. I suppose I do that so it becomes “Mine”.

I hope you had a good return on your money for it.

Maybe I’m whacked, but, I find this incident funny for some strange reason. I doubt that his daughter will have many suitors after this.

I would imagine he calls his gun "The Judge" because it happens to be a Taurus Judge, not because it is an affectionate name. The Judge fires both .45 long colt and .410 shotshells.

I own 4 Taurus handguns, 3 revolvers and one semi-auto. I have never had a problem with any of them and I have put hundreds, if not thousands, of rounds through them. No misfires, no jams, no mechanical breakdowns. My brother has one Taurus revolver, not problems with it either, not to mention several of my friends who own Taurus handguns. I have never known any of them to have problems with them. I feel sorry for you two guys who must have bought the only two Taurus handguns that had defects.

OTH, I have two S&W semi-autos, one of which has feeding problems the other one doesn't. So, should I judge S&W by the one bad one I own or the one good one that gives no problems at all?

I own a lot more handguns and more rifles than you’ve described and they run a pretty good range of Manufacturers (Glock, Colt, S&W, Springfield, Thompson, Browning, Military, etc.)and the only one I’ve had a problem with is the Taurus....should I judge Taurus.....no, don’t have to I’m not going to buy any.
