Dan Quayle announces son's run for Congress

Dan Quayle announced Friday his son is running for Congress. Attorney Ben Quayle (R) will seek the open seat in Arizona's 3rd district, the former vice president told Fox News Channel.

Rep. John Shadegg (R) has announced he won't seek reelection, prompting several GOPers to enter the fray.

Quayle praised his 33-year-old son as the "next generation of leadership."

“We are convinced that he will be successful and we're very hopeful that he'll be the next congressman for the 3rd congressional district," he said. "I'll do whatever he wants me to do or whatever he doesn't want me to do."

Yes. The liberal media is sh*t and Americans are slavees and serfs because of their power. The American public enpowers their overlords everytime they switch on the TV.

Cable TV gave them more power because every cable bill is divided up so you are sending CNN $1 a month and CNBC/MSNBC/NBC $1 a month whether you watch it or not. But idiots like “college ball” and other forms of mindless “entertainment.”

Oddly - Candice Bergen after her career was largely over - said Dan Quayle was right. Seems like a few s**the*ds here still are piling on the guy.

And you bought the setup, didn’t you. The press sabotaged Quayle and you bought it.There was no internet then as there is to help with the lies now.

"...the card he had read spelled it that way..."

Do I correctly recall Quayle leaning over to the misspelled word and checking the card against it?

Maybe there's a YouTube of it. :-?

Dan Quayle was never of the “ruling class.”

Yes. Quayle was setup but don't tell Freepers that.

The press also accused Quayles wife of influencing policy by attending meetings but she wasn't even in town at the time. There was no internet to expose the setup and lies.

What surprises me is that Freepers are buying it.

I noticed some snide remarks earlier in the thread.

No one knows what the son believes or stands for, and they bring up the potatoe thing as a real issue.

The LSM has done its job well.....

The media ... just ran with it.

I heard that the reporters themselves were NOT sure about the correct spelling and that they were all running for the dictionaries to check the spelling.

Anyone remember that?

Exactly. First step—make your own announcement, don’t have Dad do it for you!

Can Ben speak for himself?

That's exactly what I'm wondering. Whether your father had a great or horrible political reputation, wouldn't you want to make the announcement yourself, and not your daddy? If the guy can't even make his own announcement, how in the world is he going to be his own man in Congress? Good grief.

***...maybe he should announce it himself.***

No..this is smart...it gets all the Dan Quayle bashing up front. Then Ben comes along and praises his Dad as a warm, decent human being.

Like father, like son.

Unlike the Ted & Patrick Kennedy dynasty of media moonglow.
